Here we can discuss the piano solo of Synthesis, The In-Between. Like the reminiscence of Whisper in the Overture , this piece begins with slowly evolving memories of songs that didn't make their way onto Synthesis in full. (See of you can guess which.) The repeated note in the low register of the piano that begins in the second half of the piece goes from being on the downbeat, to the upbeat when the melody jumps in between the notes, and becomes the dominant part, defining the repeated note as the pedal point. So the title of the piece refers not only to the fact that it is an instrumental that comes in between two songs, but also that the melody lives, somewhat unexpectedly, in between those repeated notes. *Thank you AllyEv on Twitter for helping with this! Out of respect for those who are waiting for their show or for the album release to wait to hear the songs, I'm advising and please asking, if you're posting anything that will give away any great details to the song, please use spoiler tags. Thank you!

I love the way this fades into Imperfection! I'm curious to hear how My Immortal will blend with it on the album.

I've seen 2 different people say they hear Hello in this piece but I can't. It's not as obvious to me as it is that Overture is inspired by Whisper 2002. I hope I can hear whatever song it is in this piece someday.

I hope I can hear whatever song it is in this piece someday. I'd say it's mostly the first 30 seconds: the intro piano is a more slowly paced version of the intro piano to Hello in a different key.

I definitely hear "Hello" in the intro; it also reminds me a bit of "Bells for Her" by Tori Amos.

I agree. Hello is definitely one of the songs that is referenced in this piece. I'm curious as to what song the second half is based off of is though. I can't tell.

This is beautiful and the next piece that I will be learning on piano. Also I love how it fades into Imperfection as we have heard in the music video already. I'm loving the piano work on this album.

When I get home tonight, I am going to figure this piece out and see what songs are referenced in this that didn't make it to Synthesis. I'm going to do this instead of washing clothes. Plus, I'm sick and I should be resting. Piano playing is rest and no where near as stressful as doing laundry and folding the clean laundry!

I'm struggling to hear anything else, although I've not listened to this one that much... it's gorgeous though <3

Together Again is definitely in there at the beginning. Same exact notes that are played in the right hand just at a different speed to give that melancholy feel to it. I hear Weight of the World in there, though I could be wrong. I need to listen to this a few more times while playing it on the piano. It also reminds me of that Christmas song with the "You can count on me" in it and the X-Files theme.
I'm also sick, so I am having a really hard time hearing my piano in with the song. Plus I keep coughing. BLAH! And now I gotta clean up cat poop...

The rhythm is just like Hello, just slower. Different key, same intervals. I think the notes are all different than Together Again, just close to them so they sound kind of similar.
I saw on Twitter that @frozenlithium hears Going Under, and as someone who used to listen to a lot of piano tributes to that song (and used to play it), I think it's there after the Hello bit. Just fancier, with a different artistic spin. So I'm banking on Hello and Going Under... Final answer. XD

Straight after Hello I 100% hear Tourniquet. If you remember the Eclipse: A Piano Tribute to Evanescence and listen to Tourniquet on there the piano is virtually identical in the beginning. So I definitely hear those two songs, but suspect there's more. I actually can't hear Whisper in Overture though!

Yeah. Idk what I was thinking saying same exact notes as together again. Ugh. It's definitely different than Hello. I don't hear Hello at all. I know the beginning of the notes are F C Ab G G Eb Eb G. It seems like F is definitely that prominent in-between note.
I also hear Going Under but I don't want to say this is only a compilation of two songs because if they used inspiration from the 2002 demo of Whisper, what's to say they didn't use any other demos?

I actually can't hear Whisper in Overture though! It's the Romeo & Juliet "O Verona" clip from one of the demos. It's not from the actual song. I didn't hear it at first either.
