Here we can discuss the Synthesis reworking of Your Star.
I can’t see your star I can’t see your star Though I patiently waited, bedside, for the death of today I can’t see your star The mechanical lights of Lisbon frightened it away
And I’m alone now Me and all I stood for We’re wandering now All in parts and pieces swim lonely Find your own way out
I can’t see your star I can’t see your star How can the darkness feel so wrong
And I’m alone now Me and all I stood for We’re wandering now All in parts and pieces swim lonely Find your own way out
So far away It’s growing colder without your love Why can’t you feel me Calling your name Can’t break the silence, it’s breaking me All my fears turn to rage
And I’m alone now Me and all I stood for We’re wandering now All in parts and pieces swim lonely Find your own way out now
Nothing worth fighting for We’re wandering now All in parts and pieces swim lonely Find your own way out

Amy's vocals are galactic. This version just takes me out of this world. I do miss the guitar in the solo, it was more epic in my opinion. Same goes for the piano solo, it was more epic in the original version. I should give this a few more listens to understand how I feel about it.

The weird sound effect at the end of Lost in Paradise going into Your Star reminds me of carnival music. I imagine clowns, lol. Love this version! It's so groovy! I love the bass also, at least that's what I think it is. Also this Instagram clip is Your Star- http://instagram.com/p/BUmtCWqBHCM You can hear it around 2:50 in the song There is also some really cool flute (?) Work at 3:28.

It sounds so mechanical... I get an almost steampunk vibe from it, but that could also be synaesthesia and the colors of the song and notes. I love it. I'll need to give it a few more listens but for now I like the way it starts and Amy's voice is wonderful, but I feel at the end it loses something. Great nonetheless.

^I see where you're getting steampunk! Sounds like a bunch of gears in some spots. Since I love the Open Door version so much I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this one getting reworked but I really like it. A different vibe than the original. More chilled in some spots - almost trip-hoppy in some of the softer moments. I've always loved the orchestral parts of this song - it was fun to hear them amplified.

Good song, but I was hoping that they would change the intro...It has always been my least favorite part.

Makes me imagine Amy traveling on a giant dirigibil, searching the night sky for her long lost love

I love how there's a greater emphasis on "star. There's so much strength in it

I LOVE this remake, so I'm just gonna break it down and point out all the parts I love. I apologise in advance my knowledge of musical instruments or terms isn't great.
The beat in this song is so awesome, starting at 1:12, and the remix-y background vocals. Basically everything that's going on in the background here in the second minute just rocks.
I love that vocal at 1:50-1:52.
The whole bit between 2:27 and 3.24. All of it. Amy's low voice sounds eerie and dark and SO GOOD ("sooo far awayyyy.."), that low bass, then strings and that melancholic melody at 2:47 (not a clue what that instrument is). Building up to that majestic piano towards the end - just beautiful.
Your Star is in my top 3 Synthesis songs.

I have never been a fan of Your Star, it has always been my least favorite Ev song. This version makes me dislike it less. I totally get the "steampunk" vibe a few of you mentioned.

I love the sounds in this one. You can hear stuff like a sort of reverb in Amy's voice and a cranking type of noise.

I think what you're referring to is the french horn and bassoon harmonies along with the trumpets and trombones.

Anyone notice how Amy sings "rage" in this version? It's quite awesome!

Learning this transcription on piano. Quite the same but the high runs are a bit different and the low epic piano in in this one. Lol.
