Evanescence usually has some kind of story, but I kind of figured that we'd get more of a performance video as a way of advertising the tour with Lindsey. Ev videos are mostly performance shots of Amy and the guys but with a somewhat bigger budget, so I'm not surprised with some of the disappointment I've seen regarding this video (and even the Evanescence era).

Yeah there are performance shots in Ev videos, but there's usually a bigger overarching story/concept, which this doesn't really have. It's literally them performing with some extra shots of random stuff outdoors (so maybe a loose 'travelling' theme?) which I think is fine. As far as the people saying they don't get it - there isn't much to get. There's less metaphor. Which, again, I think is fine even though I don't necessarily feel like it matches the electronic vibes of the song.

Now that the music video is released and the tour is beginning, I wonder when will we hear some news about that DVD! I wish we had more info about it. They already recorded two shows. but it also highly possible they record another one now that Lindsey is going to be on tour and perform with them. so ... I'd really like to know what will be on that dvd. One show? Two shows? 3? A selection of different recorded performance as a whole set list? Will it have bloopers too like ABH?

I think having a Synthesis DVD tour could prop up good marketing for them as long as they will promote Synthesis itself. The music video for Hi-Lo is good but I'm not surprised that some fans are disappointed that it's another performance type with only Lindsey performing separately. Synthesis didn't sell much like the Ev3 and the band didn't have any label to have a budget to start with. They're independent artists whose budget depends on how their album, merchandise and ticket sells. I dunno. These fans cannot understand how music industry works.

I know what type of fans you are talking about. For me, I know they are on a budget, I know this tour is not cheap.I just personally feel the concept could have been handled better.Take the Recover videos for instance: they didn't really tell a set story, they were just shot at Amy's home and different places around New York. But the vibe matched the song and those were in no way done as a huge expensive production.

I did quite like the video clip. It may be not that cool as the older ones were like Bring Me To Life, Lithium or Everybody's Fool. But it still works for me and fits the song I think. I really like that all the band members (and Lindsey of course) can be seen in the clip (something I disliked about the Imperfection clip), and I also like the other images. It's a bit hard for me to explain... they way she sings in that song (sounding of her vioce) and the way the images look like, that goes well together, at least for me.

they way she sings in that song (sounding of her vioce) Isn't that voice just truly ... I can't even find any word good enough to describe how wonderful it is. That fragile, innocent, sorrowful low pitch voice here and in other songs like The Last Song I'm wasting on You. I just can't tell what a deep effect is always has on me. how beautiful and soothing it is.
Seriously... how beautiful a voice can be? What a wide range it can have and how capable a vocalist can be that in a second, turn THAT voice to that flawless strong loud high pitch voice and give you goosebumps again and again now in a totally different way when she sings "Don't you know we could be ... Haaaa'aaaaaaa'aaaaaaaiiiiiii ... lo"

Just listening to this song, you can hear how much her voice has matured. Not gonna lie, although I like the huskiness at times, I miss her lighter, angelic tone, like in Breathe No More. She has some distinct tones; Fallen was soft and flowery, the Open Door more sour, raspy, banshee-esque, and grungy, and now it's deep and heavy. Does anyone else think that in Evanescence's later songs like Hi-Lo, she takes on a more classical, reserved, kind of proper tone? It sounds more formal now; she pronounces R's less and shapes her vowels in a different way.

I absolutely looooove the video. though I might be a little bit biased cause I was at one of the shows when they recorded the video. It's just.. gaah so cool. It sums up the whole synthesis era, the beauty. The editing compliments the electronic vibe in a really nice way.

I just can't stop fantasizing about the idea that's been shaped in my mind for the next music video of Amy/Ev . A video so similar to Good Enough. Amy with a fierce looking outfit and make-up of a crazy goth lady ... messy hair and dark eye shadows etc ... maybe close to style of a witch In a big dark wooden gothic mansion with magical ivies all over the place (just like the ones in GE), playing piano and singing ... and while she sings with her magical angelic (booo... even angles envy of her! but anyway) voice, it's like that her house becomes alive under the purple sky: Shiny eyes appear in the cracks of woods in the ceiling and under the floor, the ivies start growing fast, barely visible ghosts and fairies dance all around, paper flowers bloom, trees move their hands and whisper, and wind blows in her hair as the candy clouds reflect the echo of her voice like a lullaby from the sky. And her countless army of hamsters quickly move around and do her works for her. in tiny wheels at her basement, in the kitchen, or on her magical piano ... all as long as she sings and she kinda controls everything with the power of her voice and the piano notes she plays
Someone make this happen NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my f***ing God, yes! :') <3

I returned to this song today. When I first listened, the tender vocals, beautiful melodies, soundscapes, and Lindsey Sterling's violin playing were what drew me in. I didn't pay much attention the lyrics. Now I'm listening to it again and dissecting the lyrics. I'm almost certain it's about Shaun Morgan and not Ben.
Amy in 2006;
Amy in 2006;
Amy in 2017;
I know I'm being speculative but Amy took a few obvious shots at Ben in The Bitter Truth but I don't think any of the song lyrics target Shaun. I'm not going to try to get inside Amy's head but I really doubt she cares enough about Moody, he was (allegedly) abusive, especially after all the "We Are The Fallen" crap he pulled and the weird-ass message he posted on EvBoard, and the videos of him driving in his car saying how much enjoys the self-titled album.
But Shaun Morgan- he went through the tragedy of losing his brother after their breakup and a lot of great, inspirational songs came from that like "Rise Above This". They were both in their 20s when they split. Messy splits in your early 20s is completely normal. I think back to one of mine. Felt like we had everything figured out, and we were happy every day until we weren't, she started abusing pills, and it was a really hectic breakup. Now I'm in my 30s and I think back, doubt we'll become friends, but like the lyrics, there was nothing she said or did to me that was so harmful that destroyed me so badly that I couldn't heal from. I was part of the blame, enabling, being judgmental, and we were just too young to understand that relationships survive because both parties need to be devoted. And after the split, some of her darknesses became my darknesses, I'd think about her, have a better understanding of what she was going through. I saw her a few years ago and we talked, she's an amazing real estate agent, happily married with kids and I've also been in a long term relationship that may have ended poorly if it hadn't been for that experience of a messy breakup.
I couldn't imagine doing this when you're both rock stars and it's given me a lot of respect for Amy to go back and find love where she came from with better knowledge of how relationships should work.
So I definitely think this is an ode to Shaun with the utmost maturity and burying whatever hatchets there may have ben. Or maybe it's about an episode of Carebears that she watched. I don't know but I could never in my wildest dreams imagine Amy writing a song or line about Ben Moody, besides the shots in Bitter Truth. Some relationships are toxic enough to where you need to close that door and lock it for good.
Thanks for indulging. I love this song so much more.
