^ She was still under contract and probably wasn’t allowed to “bad mouth” the label in any way as part of that contract. If she told the truth, she could have been accused of breaching contract and potentially have legal action taken against her.

There is a unnamed song Amy mentioned on EvClub that she demoed and submitted for a film's end title. She said it was probably going to be on the album. It can't be Swimming Home because it was written for Ponyo in 2008. Ever since you mentioned this I've been racking my mind trying to figure out what song it could be. The best idea I could come up with would be 'Find a Way,' since Amy said she wrote it for the Prince of Persia movie which came out in 2010. A studio version of 'Find a Way' would be amazing. Little fun fact, we were originally writing to try to get it placed in the movie Prince of Persia (hence the sort of eastern vibe). I can't decide if that song goes in the Evanescence or solo category. What do you think? SOURCEI have a lot to say... Since the preview of Perfect Dream I have idealize all about that era or the Broken-Record songs. I'm gonna list what we have: 1. Made Of Stone (released on Evanescence) 2. Swimming Home (released on Evanescence) 3. Secret Door (released on Evanescence) 4. Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing (released on Recover Vol 1, Amy Lee) 5. Hi-Lo (Released on Synthesis) 6. Take Cover (Released on The Bitter Truth) 7. Yeah Right (Released on The Bitter Truth) 8. Feeding The Dark (Released on The Bitter Truth) So if we add 'You've Got a Lot to Learn' and 'Perfect Dream,' we have 10. If the total we are looking for is 12, then we are remarkably close to getting an idea of what the album was - this is assuming that all of these songs were from the 12 recorded and not the 16 that were being worked on. In other words, we don't know if the four that were never 'finished' are some of the ones listed above that Amy chose to finish and put on either EV3, Synthesis or TBT for one reason or another. Do we include 'Lost Whispers' in our count for the Lillywhite record? Some lists on the EvReference seem to think so - I wonder if that song was realistically going to be the intro to the CD? I mean, she had an intro-like song for Synthesis so it's not impossible . . . Also wasn't technically 'Your Love' supposed to be on the album too? I mean, we now consider it quite-a-different-thing but at the time Amy was talking about it being one of the "first songs [she] wrote for the new album" and how it's "not a good synthesis" of what the album is about, before ultimately calling it a B-Side for the album later on. She also contradicted herself by saying she didn't write it for the album though, but sometimes Amy changes her perspective of things as time passes on. The quotes are all on the EvRef if anyone is particularly interested. We'll probably get close, but maybe never definitively know what 16 songs they were working on. I imagine we'll figure out at least the 12 though . . . I wish someone would just ask Amy what the piano from 'Another Piece of the Puzzle' is from. It's not like Amy would be coy now that it's 10 years later and the song still isn't released yet.

DarkFlare89 The "Find a Way" theory makes sense! I have my doubts about "Lost Whispers" because it was a half-finished song that was turned into a intro for the 2009 shows. I think people assumed it would be on the Lillywhite album because it was written in the same batch of songs for the album. As for "Your Love", I think she mistakenly said it was for the third album. It was written during her "folk" phase in 2008 (julging by the demo), since she first performed in June 2008 at a award. This is what she said in March 2010: So in Summer 2009 she hooked up with Will Science and the two started to make electronic-leaning songs. Her post on the old ET:

There's a bunch of sassy songs and others are very emotional. I can't figure out how this songs can work together in one album, but in another hand, the mix of electronic and rock elements are perfect, it takes Evanescence away from classical elements and put them in a new paradigm full of electronics making them sound modern and fresh but without losing their musical identity. To this day I'm pretty sure a lot of EvFans will let this era die when Amy finally decides to release Perfect Dream, and tbh I don't think that will happen, as Your Love, I think it was sent to the Recycle Bin too. I think the attachment some fans (ME!) have with this era it's because it brings the same mystery and emotion that Evanescence had on Pre-Fallen years, knowing that there are some songs we haven't heard (and probably never will hear), a very raw work full of dreams, something that's very intimate to Amy and the band, waiting to be rediscover, waiting to be put out. I think you're missing The End of the Dream, as it was originally written for the first iteration of Ev3.

I think you're missing The End of the Dream, as it was originally written for the first iteration of Ev3. No, Amy herself confirmed the only tracks from the Broken-record used in EV3 were MOS, SH and SD. Some people listed End Of The Dream and Sick only because Will B. Hunt was in the credits.

I really wish she would release Perfect Dream. It's the song I desire most from Amy Lee. And by release, I mean in its original form. Remarkable that we have 8 songs out of the presumably 16 that were written/recorded. What about 1:38 AM? That was a very unique, interesting direction for a song that I wanted to hear more from. And wasn't there a song from the "Nice Day" video? I loved that piano piece, and long to hear the song it belongs to as well.
Ultimately though, I really was hoping for Perfect Dream on this most recent album (The Bitter Truth). And for Synthesis, I'd have loved a more toned down version of Disappear with the piano and soft vocals similar to the TwitVid Amy had shared.

The “perfect rainy Sunday” video was an early version of Disappear. I think you mentioned that. Not sure what “nice day” is.

That video was Amy, Terry and Tim jamming to a loop, trying ideas, not a real song

Is it true that Amy is releasing a solo album that may feature Perfect Dream soon?

I thought Lillywhite said on Twitter that the Broken Record was going to have 13 songs on it....
Anyway, I'm thinking we still have at least 2 or 3 songs from that record (that was recorded at least) that we still haven't heard yet and there are more that we don't know about (obviously, since their intention was to work on 16 songs).
So, let's look at this:
1. Another Piece of the Puzzle (some say that this ended up in Feeding the Dark, but I don't hear this at all) 2. Made of Stone (released on Evanescence and confirmed by Amy to have been part of Lillywhite sessions, formerly known as Meanwhile in the studio...) 3. Swimming Home (released on Evanescence and confirmed by Amy to have been part of Lillywhite sessions) 4. Secret Door (released on Evanescence and confirmed by Amy to have been part of Lillywhite sessions) 5. Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing (released on Recover Vol. 1 and confirmed by Amy to have been part of Lillywhite sessions) 6. Hi-Lo (Released on Synthesis) 7. Take Cover (Released on The Bitter Truth) 8. Yeah Right (Released on The Bitter Truth) 9. Feeding The Dark (Released on The Bitter Truth) 10. Perfect Dream (Formerly known as "Stompin' Steve") 11. You Got a Lot to Learn
Apparently, Lost Whispers was supposed to be on the new album or was at least written during those sessions.

Perfect Dream is the track I want the most. I really hope it's not the one she never releases. The Bitter Truth would really have benefitted from a song like it, that is haunting and slow, focusing more on Amy's vocals and less on drowning her out with instruments, which Nick is known for promoting, if the harsh metal focus of it and Ev3 are any indication. Perfect Dream sounds more like Evanescence to me than a lot of tracks we've heard from both Ev3 and The Bitter Truth, with the exception of Secret Door and Hi-Lo, if you ask me. So it's ironic that Perfect Dream would be the one we have yet to see released, even after Amy and the band became independent of Bicycle, and own the rights to it now. It's heartbreaking. Not even the sense of urgency wrought by a lethal pandemic brought Perfect Dream out of its deathless vault

Someone told me that Amy said on EvClub that Perfect Dream was going to be the first single. I feel she told more than just the words she was singing in the Stompin' Steve video.
Can a EvClubber confirm this please?
The song is so TOD-ish and Björk-ish to me. I thought we would see it sooner because Amy said she owns the original recordings but she'll finish some, redo others and keep some for herself. Hopefully Perfect Dream is not in the latter bracket.

Only for it not to be on the album at all? I agree Perfect Dream has a TOD feel, which must be why I adore it. TOD is my favorite Evanescence album and era. What a remarkable sonic theme. I just loved that sound. Perfect Dream and Secret Door both had this feel to them as well. I can tell it's a haunting song that prioritizes Amy's voice and the emotion of the song over the instruments, the way Together Again and Secret Door do. The Bitter Truth needed more songs in this vein, even if I love the album. I really was holding out hope Perfect Dream would finally appear. My greatest fear is it'll be locked in a vault forever. Find a Way too. But at least we've heard that one in its entirety, unlike Perfect Dream. I thought with the sense of urgency (which is warranted) Perfect Dream would see the light of day. I just don't understand. She owns the original recordings which we all celebrated. Perfect Dream fans especially. But it was never released...?
