You think she wrote a song after their deaths? The timeline doesn't seem right but who knows. Well they were in the studio late July/early August so the timeline would actually fit given that lyrics are one of the last things Amy writes for songs, it would have been fresh on her mind at the time. What do you think about the rest of the lyrics? According to dekker87: "The way you look us over. You kind of (You've got a?) fake composure. Pushing again and again And sinking lower and lower. The world is on our shoulders Do you really know the weight of the words you say. You want a little of it. You just can't let go of it. You've got an ego (anger?) to feed. You're made to rise above it. Don't look now but the little girl's got a grenade." I agree with Evanescent-Killjoy This doesn't seem about Chris nor Chester's death. Maybe the "you" refers to different people in each verse? I also don't think the song would do that well on the radio. There are some electronica parts that might be less interesting to the average listener, maybe a radio cut would do well. But who knows.

"Too late to rise above it." I still hear "would replace" in every chorus except the last one. And I agree, it doesn't seem like the second verse is talking about the same person as the first.

The way I interpret the second half of the lyrics is that it's about the pressures of fame being an artist and how the fans look up to you, it's both a blessing and a burden. You want it, but you also don't want it and everything you say and do holds alot of weight to your fans who are "relying" on you so to speak. Which to me links in with the first part being about depression/suicide if this was indeed inspired by Chris/Chester. Maybe Amy will shed some light on what this song means to her once it has been released

I think after listening to it about a hundred times, I think it's finally grown on me The verses oddly enough remind me of Janelle Monae's Tightrope, the way she sings them: This song, to me, feels like Ev's most politically charged song without being over the top about it. I think she references Trump in a few lines: The way you look us over Your counterfeit composure Pushing again and again and sinking lower and lower The world is on its shoulders Do you really know the weight of the words you say? You want a little of it You just can't let go of it You've got an ego to feed Too late to rise above it Don't look now but the little girl's got a grenade I believe the "little girl" in that line is actually Amy because the song is kind of angry (Judging by Amy's use of the F-bomb) and so is she. This song overall feels like it's talking about the fight for LGBT rights. The timing is interesting as it falls with National Suicide Prevention Month and The Trevor Project is based in Amy's adopted hometown of New York City. I think these lyrics reference this in part: We stand undefined Can't be drawn with a straight line This will not be our ending We are alive, we are alive I think perfect imperfection is a reference to being perfect in your own way. I might be reading into it too much, but that's what I got out of it.

I love it, gave me chills! It's a bit of a step away from normal Amy, while still sounding very much like her and I really like that.

You think she wrote a song after their deaths? The timeline doesn't seem right but who knows. I definitely don't think this song will make it to radio. Definitely not FM. Sirius... eh. Maybe a few plays on a few different channels but y'all are crazy to think this will end up on radio. I'm doubtful this song will even chart. I'm thinking of the Cranberries last album which was similar to this. They reworked their songs, had a few new ones. One was promoted and it was a decent song but never had much media attention. I can almost guarantee the same will happen with Ev. Even if they were to make a video and promote it, where do their music really fit in the mainstream anymore? And wait until this song is actually premiered. Do you realize how many people are going to say, "This isn't Evanescence!" - it's nice to have high hopes, though. Well they were in the studio late July/early August so the timeline would actually fit given that lyrics are one of the last things Amy writes for songs, it would have been fresh on her mind at the time. Also to those speculating that it was leaked on purpose. It wasn't leaked by the band or their management and I guarantee that they are not happy about it. They are working hard to try and block the youtube videos but when it explodes like this, it's hard to contain it. The band actually end up losing money on this because normally they would put it up on their youtube where they could earn money from the views and they are losing out by it being leaked all over the internet. Make sure you listen to it on the official channel when it gets officially posted. I agree they wouldn't have leaked it unofficially if they were going to put it out they would have done it properly on their youtube channel. You are absolutely right about them losing money from the leak. I unfortunately saw it on fb on a fan page and didn't see the youtube author so I won't be watching it again as tempting as it is.

I literally just came here to say that the verses remind me so much of Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman, and I saw Danny beat me to it in the very first post, ahaha. The chorus actually reminds me a ton of New Way to Bleed, and certain sections of the songs are very reminiscent of Erase This.

It still needs to come out sooner rather than later. People will have ripped the audio from the videos already. Not that hard with the proliferation of YouTube ripping sites around...

Refusing to listen to this or read too much about it until it's released (on principal), but it sounds like it'll be worth the wait! (:
