I thought it was pretty, way different than what I thought it was going to be from the preview clips, but I liked none the less.

Is the piano intro the Unraveling track on the album? I'm pretty sure it's "The In Between". "Unraveling" comes before Imaginary.

So far she hasn't mixed up the lyrics while performing this one live. Lmao

Overall, this is one of my favorite music videos they have done. The visuals are really mesmerizing and the video is well put together.

The visuals were sooo soo pretty and would have been amazing for a lyric video. But as the official video, it was utterly such a disappointment. The bgeinning was such a promising one and then it failed to take off. I feel like this was such an amazing opportunity that was wasted with this video. Ah well.

Haha, at least it was during soundcheck and not the actual show! She gathered her bearings quick! So far she hasn't mixed up the lyrics while performing this one live. Lmao She did at our soundcheck. 😆

Just in case people haven't noticed, I'm fairly sure the little girl is supposed to represent Amy (green contacts). Noticed this the second time around and thought this was a pretty interesting touch.

Didn‘t anyone notice that the piano part in the intro is a „slimmed“ version of the piano in „hello“? Maybe it‘s in honor of her sister that passed away when she was a kid - then the whole story around the girl in the video would make sense to me. It shows her perspective when she found out about her sister‘s death.

The beginning had a lot of potential, I think they should've just kept the overlay to a minimum since there's too much going on (they look beautiful in still but in motion they're just distracting). The underwater scene should've been left as is rather than being lost in the background.
They should've done what they did with Sweet Sacrifice.

Okay, so I took off my Negative Nancy spectacles, and am seeing this video differently.
One of the things I love and hate about music videos is the usage of metaphors in the imagery because it's either you have to explain it all, or none at all. The forensic removal at the beginning and the slow piano is just so beautiful, that you are awaiting a very serious story-based video...which you get if you truly pay attention to what is going on. The crown of thorns that little Amy is wearing is a heavy telling of the weight that one carries on in their shoulders. I am currently battling severe depression (which can explain my posts lately), and my brain is scatterbrained to the point where I just look at "how did it end up like this? what caused this?" The images, the drowning in water, the "swirls of inspiration and doubt" as I feel that's my interpretation of it flow really well together. Do I think this is their best video ever? No, but it doesn't have to be. But the imagery and symbolism is the heaviest I have ever seen. I am a fan of it more than I was this morning.

I like that it remains fairly ambiguous. I like to believe that very little of the video's subliminal messages were entirely accidental, but that the way each of us are interpreting things are not necessarily aligned to their original intentions. Sometimes having someone tell you "oh, you're wrong by the way, that was supposed to mean that" can destroy meanings that are very personal to each of us. I must admit after I posted that I thought the girl was Amy, I felt a little bad because it risks destroying someone's illusion. For someone, they may have watched the video and imagined themselves, or their sister, or daughter, or friend in place of the little girl. Which is why I kind of hope we don't get a big long explanation from the band at any point of exactly what everything in the video is supposed to mean. It just kind of destroys the fun. And the fact that you're analysing it in a way that means something to you and creates a little empathy between yourself and the imagery in the video (I know empathy is f***ing hard when you're in that place) can only be a good thing. Even if it's not everything you wanted it to be, at least there's a connection there, because that's the most important thing about music.

To me, the little girl represents little Amy, but that's only my interpretation. One thing I always loved about Ev and Amy is they will never give us their exact interpretation because as she has said so many times in the past, the interpretation is what we get out of it and that which helps us connect to the piece they have created. I just LOVE that the imagery has been so damn consistent like in TOD era. Even in the tour merch you can see the designs there (specifically the Imperfection shirt). It is graphic design porn as one user put it. It is so appealing.
