I just listened to the new live synthesis version of weight of the world on oh my god!!!! to be honest I never really liked the song (didn't hate it though) or paid that much attention to it until now! seriously a studio version has to happen!! I really cant understand why it wasn't put on the album. As much as I love Lithium, it really wasn't needed, same with Secret Door. Hearing WOTW is making me long for a Synthesis version of Going Under and Whisper.

Wow! Weight of the World sounds like a completely different song now! Such a refreshment! :-) If they didn't want to put in the album, they could have at least made it a Japanese or Deluxe Edition bonus track or something...
But now I am thinking about one other thing - at the beginning they said that all of the orchestras were send the sheet music beforehand so they have time to learn and practice all of the songs. Was Weight of the World sheet music also sent out at the same time? :-) If yes, is it the only one?

I would imagine there a few songs ready to go to give to the orchestra if they decide they wanna play that song for that show. Whether or not these songs were actually recorded (Swimming Home and WOTW) when they were in the studio is what I really wanna know. Im gonna guess that they were, because those arrangements are too complicated for them to have come up with on the spot, like "lets do a WOTW version tomorrow night" sorta thing.

I would also like to know if they were recorded as outtakes but assuming the orchestra musicians wouldn't be able to sight is fallacious as these are very talented artists and many would be able to do so. However, they seem to have sheet music and the lack of the brass/wood wind/percussion (other than the Will's) seems to point to that this wasn't a Synthesis composition, or at least not a complete composition, unfortunately. AND OMG I JUST REALIZED! THIS IS PROBABLY A VERY SIMILAR VERSION OF WHAT THE INFAMOUS RUMORED ACOUSTIC VERY SOUNDED LIKE!!!!!!!!

Has anyone given that lean forward podcast a listen?? I loved hearing Amy going into in-depth detail about what it was like to step out of her comfort zone in multiple ways.

assuming the orchestra musicians wouldn't be able to sight is fallacious as these are very talented artists and many would be able to do so. I concur. Some classical musicians are crazy talented. I was once part of a committee for a community group that put on orchestral shows and we had this amazing pianist come to play. Her page turner hadn't turned up and they threw me in to page turn last minute. They were completely oblivious to the fact that I cannot read sheet music for the life of me and I had a cold sweat on the whole time as I tried to guess where each note was going - I was literally going, these notes are going up, these notes are going down and there are more notes here than here so she's probably at the end of the page - kind of thing and mostly messed it up. But she was barely looking at the notes she was playing on the piano itself. It was like watching a touch typist on a computer. When I had f**ked up and she beat me to the end of the page she'd almost stop and look at me because she hadn't memorised the piece completely, she was playing AS she was reading. And even then, even though she'd clearly only read this maybe once before and was (unfortunately for her) relying on someone who could probably maybe place a B note on the page and certainly couldn't tell you where to find that on the piano, she was able to improvise, predict where the piece was going and adapt to the extent that it saved the performance. There's the famous saying that rock musicians play 3 chords to 3000 people and jazz musicians play 3000 chords to 3 people. I think a similar thing can be said for classical musicians. They may not be individually as renowned as your big rock gods and popstars, but for raw talent and adaptability they're hard to beat.

I could list a few songs from each album that would sound great orchestrated

There is no Synthesis outtakes.
