I keepam seeing people on youtube complaining about Amy's voice. I feel she slayed it (and I usually am one of the first to say when she isn't as good) Can any one tell me where her voice failed? I'm not sure at this festival, but a couple days ago during The Change, her voice cracked during the bridge. Every now and then, it'll happen.....as one might expect from a human being since no one's perfect. The closest I saw from last night was probably missing a line in Disappear, but that doesn't count as her voice failing. It's possible that they're just misattributing low quality audio from someone's cell phone as her voice being faulty. But yeah, she's been slaying it lately! She's never been bad singing live, even from the Vino's tape, and she's done nothing but improve over time. Aside from a crack here and there, I can't recall any time her voice ever failed, which is pretty impressive when you take some of the abrupt vocal shifts into consideration and her vocal range during any given show. I'm pretty impressed that at many shows, she's been able to go on for over an hour, probably coming close to straining her voice with all these shifts, before belting out the beginning of Your Star flawlessly....even after months of touring. I love the flaws because they're not too numerous, but they're enough to remind fans that she's just as human as we are. Also, who really puts much stock in YouTube comments? That section's notorious for attracting trolls trying to get a rise out of people. I bet most of them didn't even watch the video they commented on.

For me, it looked like she struggled during the ending of Lithium. But apart from some notes that were slightly off, I think she/they did an amazing job. The weather was freaking hot (30+ degrees) and Amy jumped around a LOT. So I think it's normal that the performance wasn't "perfect". (For me it was perfect! <3) I heard Jen even passed out during the show because of the heat.

Amy has been struggling on The Change. In London her voice cracked where it often does on the really high "lose my mind"(possibly because she was sitting down and it was reeeeally hot) - see about 2:19 in ma vid: but other than that I didn't notice a single moment in two consecutive gigs where she was visibly struggling. On the only two songs I've heard from Graspop (Disappear and BMTL) she absolutely slayed all the way through, she may have had a cataclysmic cock-up that I haven't seen, but I strongly suspect trolls be trollin' On a side note. Dave f*ckin' Fortman also plays a Rockerverb. I feel further legitimised in my love affair with that amp...

I think it's way too easy for people to forget how hard it must be for a singer to do the kind of vocal gymnastics she does night after night for multiple months and still sound as good as she does. Give the woman a break, she's only human!

Give the woman a break, she's only human! Oh absolutely. Weird as it sounds, I actually quite like the odd vocal crackle/break up or off note. It makes it feel more organic and real and somehow even more powerful and heartfelt since she's just going for it irregardless of whether she's going to make the note. I know that's poor vocal technique etc. but experiencing that live is/was just awe inspiring. Sometimes classically trained singers with perfect pitch can just feel a bit too 'perfect' and soulless through lack of imperfections.
