I was just thinking we may need a place to discus the awesomenes that is Dirty Diana. I think this at top of my favorite Evanescence live covers along with People Are Strange. Just simply wonderful.
Question: Had you noticed there seem to be backing vocals and electronics while they play it? After listening to the song's different recordings I have noticed this, not only does Amy's little piano openinf repeats itself during the verses but there what I think are rum machine sounds and synths playing in the backsground during those as well, you can hear them very well in some videos.
And thinking about it, I believe it's the first time has had any of those. In previous ocassions (Zero, Thoughtless, People Are Strange, Purple Rain...) all the music has been played live by the band which makes me think there might an "official" recording of this with production by Amy somewhere. Could it be possible this was also from the Lillywhite Sessions? They had another cover in there, anyway, "Baby did a bad bad thing". And I am aware that would be one too many covers for an album, but they did say they had prepared material for even two records, back in the day. And they said they wanted to play the cover during the last Evanescence Era tour, I think. Maybe they just couldn't do it back then because they were not off the record label yet, and the recording belonged to Wind Up.
Maybe this is just crazy talk but either way I love how this new music (Take Cover and well, this cover) are creating speculation. Feels like Ev's coming back to active life.
Love this song. I want it on iTunes NOW. Ha, ha.
