I WAS THERE AND IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!!
I was the first one in line for the sold out show (I got there at 9am and waited til a little after 7pm to get inside). I didn't eat or drink anything but a handful of goldfish crackers and a water that one of the nice people in line bought for me. He also gave me an awesome poster he got for the VIP meet and greet, which made me SO happy. I bought a super cool hoodie from the merch stand, and I'm probably never going to take it off. I got a really good spot right at the front left, next to the nice people i'd chatted with all day.
The opening band, Veridia, was SO good. You guys seriously should check them out if you haven't. The lead singer and the guitarists kinda danced like a boy band thoughout their set, but it wasn't corny or weird it just looked cool. My favorite songs by them were "Pretty Lies" and "Reckless".
Take Cover sounds incredible live, and I really hope this is the direction they take for new music. The backing vocals sounded so dark and beautiful, the overall feel of the song was very groovy and electronic.
The new version of Even In Death needs to become a main-stay on the friggin setlist, guys. Just Amy and a piano made the song 100x more haunting and beautiful.
I was so happy when they played Breathe No More! She added a little bit of a piano intro at the beginning (which i think was mostly accidental cuz it seemed like she forgot the piano part a couple times throughout the song and stopped or slowed down) but her voice was absolutely magical.
DIRTY DIANA IS STILL STUCK IN MY FRIGGIN HEAD OMG! It was definitely a highlight of the night. The band had so much energy when they played it.
Amy messed up so many times, but it was wonderful. She forgot the words to Call Me When You're Sober and had to have the audience sing it. The backing track for Weight of The World wasn't working so they had to stop the song before Amy started singing and it was super awkward and cute. She said "Do you guys really wanna hear that one?" and everyone cheered. She also mixed up the first and second verse of What You Want, but played it off really well. Jen noticed me a couple times, and it made my night omg. I gave her the "rock-out" wave thingy and she did it back to me and smiled so huge. Later on she saw me again and smiled and I held up my hands and made a heart shape and mouthed "We love you" to her, and she held up her hands like a heart and smiled at me again. She's seriously the best, I love her.
After the show I ran outside to put my jacket in my car and grab my sketchbook and a pen for the band to sign outside at the buses. Troy came out first and everyone flipped out. He came right up to me first and signed my sketchbook with the pen, which was so friggin cool. Tim came out next, but didn't sign anything yet cut he was holding his daughter. He went back inside and Jen came out. Everyone flipped out for her, too. She is seriously the sweetest thing i've ever seen. She took multiple pictures with people, even asking for "silly faces!" and for the security people to hold the flashlight above her so her lighting would look better, lol. When she got to me I gave her my sketchbook and she said "Oh I remember you from inside! I have to do something special for you then!" and she signed her name then drew a heart, a flower, a butterfly, a sunshine, a smiley face, and some weird lightning bolt arrow symbol thing and it was the absolute cutest thing EVER. Then I asked for a hug and she gave me the biggest warmest hug. So sweet. Someone said "You're such a badass" to her and she giggled, skipped backwards, and said "Thank you" like a little schoolgirl. She left and then Tim came back out, still holding his daughter, but he had a sharpie now. He came over and signed my sketchbook and his daughter showed me the rock she found. She is absolutely precious! The crowd liked her more than Tim, I think haha. He went back inside, and then Amy came out and OMG IT WAS CRAZY. She came up to me first and signed my sketchbook, then got mobbed by people wanting pictures and autographs and hugs. I got pushed out of the way a bit, but I did manage to tell her I loved her eyeshadow and she said "Aww thanks! I'll tell Beth you said that!" Then I told her I really loved the new song and she said "Oh awesome! Thanks so much!" before going down the line. I was starstruck for a minute before I regained my composure and realized I hadn't gotten a hug from her, and I would regret it if I didn't, so I ran to the end of the line where Amy was and said "I'm so sorry, I completely forgot to ask for a hug" and she laughed and said "Well come here!" and I hugged her. I asked her if Will was coming out, and she said she would make sure he would. When she left, security started telling us to break up and leave cuz they had to take the fence down, but I wasn't having any of it. I stayed put, smiled, and waited for Will to come out, and he did. He apparently knew some people at the concert and was talking so he forgot to come sign autographs. I got his autograph, and walked away with tears in my eyes.
It was the most magical experience of my life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
