But if you hear her spiel in one of the concerts before she launched into the song, she said she normally doesn't play stuff that wasn't released but now she doesn't give a sh*t. Amy is a perfectionist and usually doesn't let a song see the light of day until it's pristine and sounds the way she wants it to sound. This, and same with If you don't mind etc, are half finished songs that the fans BEGGED to hear, so she is indulging us. It's probably the same reason she's not enthused about releasing Your Love. In an interview, she said it's just ok. So really, playing these so-so songs is a nod to the fans who are ravenous to hear anything and everything from her. So thank your stars she is throwing caution to the wind. Otherwise this is one more song you may have never heard at all. I both agree and disagree a bit here. I DO think the only reason we are hearing this right now is that Amy and the band all know that we are desperate for something new to cling to and I'd say this song is the closest they have to one that would fit a current Evanescence show with some tweaks. That being said, we know how Amy is: she wouldn't just release anything knowing that it'll be on YouTube hours after the show. There's something more here. I would say she's more than ready to have songs like this out there and more will happen with them even if they aren't perfected now. Finally, at the risk of being “that guy“ my only claim to anything special in this fandom was hearing Your Love first-hand and I can say I did feel like it was better - at least in my mind - than Amy makes it out to be. Perfect? No. But worth hearing one day? Definitely.

I think the thing to remember is that musical appreciation is entirely subjective. acoustic_ev, I'd agree with you 100% on Your Love being better than Amy makes it out to be, in fact to me, I'd say it's one of their most beautiful pieces of music, and I also wouldn't be surprised if Amy's sat here reading this over a cup of coffee thinking "you all suck, Take Cover is waaay better". It could even be that I'm wrong and that loads of work went into Take Cover. At the end of the day, as a musician, the only person you can really satisfy is yourself. I think it's just that Ev's body of work is so consistently good as a whole that Take Cover feels mediocre to me.

Your Love is overrated af, any song wrote for EV3 is far superior... and maybe Take Cover has that half-baked or demo-ish taste, which I love in music, but it show us a new sound that keep the things fresh for the band and isn't nearly to a mediocre song... I'm here for Evanescence electronic phase to become a thing (again, remember Origin and Pre-Fallen music, not like they never put some programming and beats in their music.)

I think we should put YL to rest, honestly...we're never going to have it and there are far better songs out there. Like this one. I'm sure a studio version will blow us all away.

Fan-made instrumental video/audio of Take Cover I found on Youtube. Now, it's of course computer made but you can't deny it sounds pretty spot on and you can really get idea of what the song *might* sound like on a professional recording, at least the vibe. And who did it made a pretty good job with it I think. I don't feel like the song is incomplete but just unfinished (as in the parts in it are all good it just needs some detail work) it would be good I think to add a guitar solo. Maybe replace Amy's vocal in the middle eight or just mix them together. The song remind a lot of Weight of the World, in its style and structure but it also reminds me of Walk by Pantera in its attitude and vibe. Love it more everyday!

Last night Amy said before the song something like... THIS NEXT ONE IT'S RIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO TRY TO DESTROY THIS BAND FROM THE INSIDE OUT... so, considering this song is from 2009/2010... Is It about Rocky and John?

Is It about Rocky and John? Hmmm. It might be. I gotta agree with you. John and Rocky left the band in 2007 (well, John was fired and Rocky did quit after... well the drama starts here) and Amy wrote that song within 2009-2010 time frame when Steve Lilywhite is their producer. Where is that video, btw?

Where is that video, btw? I haven't found any videos of take cover on YouTube showing that, but I have it recorded from my live video on Facebook. She said, "this one's for every f***** who tried to destroy this band from the inside out." If you want to see it, you can find me on Facebook. I don't know any other way to share it.

Honestly I think it's more about the label rather than John and Rocky. And I believe it's a new song, not from the Lilywhite sessions, because he's claimed that old songs like If You Don't Mind are from his session as well. I think he just gets... confused.

Yes, I think it was a shot at Wind-Up as well. "From the inside out," doesn't necessarily have to be referring to a former member of the band.
I'd like to know what prompted Amy to just drop the song during this tour instead of waiting like she normally did. Super brave move, considering the song might not be totally polished yet.

This song is kinda danceable and sexy. Amy's moves you can tell she has a lot of fun performing this one.

^lol! Compared to the first concerts and after almost one month on tour I think she's a bit cooled down now! I could clearly feel that she has no idea what to do with all that energy at the first few shows
