It's like, what made her want to play Even in Death in the first place? Was it purely related to Prince's death? Maybe she had this version of EiD stored away (maybe recently recorded), and Prince's death was a good time to introduce that version? Keep in mind, Amy played Going to California live first and then released an official recording after. I don't think that playing Even in Death necessarily had anything to do with Prince's death, and it doesn't necessarily mean that she's been working on Even in Death in the studio or anything like that. Despite the fact that Amy has mentioned not liking old Ev music (though if I remember correctly, she didn't say that she didn't like the old stuff, just that it's not very good in comparison to the new stuff, which is a common feeling among people who continually work at their craft. I remember her being particularly embarrassed by Exodus, though  ), it's not so strange to think that there might be songs among the demos that Amy does still appreciate. It's also not strange to think that she might have been reminiscing one day, and playing Even in Death to herself when she realised that it could work well as a transition into Erase This.  EDIT: Forgot to say that, even if Amy does dislike the pre-Fallen songs, I get the feeling that she does like Even in Death, if only because they played it live so often during the Fallen era. |

1) Any of the previous Evanescence members don't have any rights on anything Ev-related anymore. The rights to Evanescence's back catalog and old songs belong to Bicycle Music Company, which is a company which has the rights to songs of independent artists. So Amy can practically re-release anything she wants cause she is actually the "owner" of the Evanescence "brand" and name and she doesn't have to ask anyone. 2) I don't think that Amy doesn't like Evanescence's older stuff, it's mainly that she doesn't connect with those songs anymore. Sure, she's also embarrassed with some of those (I think she once said "they're like a teenager's diary"), but that doesn't mean she wouldn't like to re-work some of them, like 'Even in Death' for example, which lyrics aren't sad in a way, but talk about the immortality of love. I could definitely see Amy re-work more Evanescence songs, not only old but maybe newer ones too and releasing them in some form as "Amy Lee" and not "Evanescence" songs (or as Evanescence covers). But that's just my wish and speculation too. I was thinking the other day that maybe she could re-work 'Made of Stone' and give it the electronic feeling it probably had during the Lillywhite Sessions, but I think that's unlikely to happen. |

When I met her for the spring tour I told her how much I loved that she played Even in Death and she seamed really excited about it. I honestly think we will see some more of the older material which is very cool. Also, yes, she did mention it prior in her twitter Q/A...and I asked David if he has ever considered working with Amy again and he said "Funny you should mention that...." I believe we will be getting some cool stuff soon.  I did see David's tweet that day as well, which was really exciting. I don't think there was ever any real drama between Amy and David, right? From what I've read, he left on his own accord to pursue his own career. He's a really talented musician, so I really hope he and Amy have something brewing. I'd love a remake of Before the Dawn as well. I would DIE. I LOOOOOVE Before the Dawn. Fingers crossed. |

Why don't we do a poll of old pre-fallen evanescence songs To see which ones fans want reworking At the end of it we could get the band members to take notice At least to convey the message to Amy? I definitely want BTD and IMBD as remakes I would defo die happy if that happened Part of me thinks since the 2002 ones which we not made as B-Sides Could one day be remade |

If I had to chose one old song to be remade and released with a good studio version it would be Understanding. It's such a beautiful song but the quality of the audio they did back then is quite low. Next in line would be Even in Death it's always been one of their best songs.
Also, I wish Amy would think about bringing the old version of Imaginary back! I like the old version with the piano intro wayyyy better than the fallen and current live version to the point I never understood why the changed it so much! It would be a good change for the live shows at least I think..

Aside from Pre-Fallen material, I also really wanna hear the harp version of MHIB sounds like. One can only dream though. I'm kinda surprised there isn't a fan made version of that yet

Ev, playing live with a full orchestra, then for one of the segues they transition into a full rendition of Ascension of the Spirit. I guess you could always add in some spacey synth drums, floaty keys, Moog Taurus and maybe some acoustic guitar all where it's tasteful to do so (but not necessary, the band could always use it for a drinks break/switch guitars etc. mid set.) Holy f*** though, I'd pay so much to hear a full string section play that...  |
