There appear to be two versions of this song on iTunes? What's the difference besides the length? Which is superior? There are a few differences, the main differences being the very end and very beginning. The longer version is the one played in the video where Amy's singing over silence in the intro and sings "Be still, my love. I will return to you" at the end. The shorter version has Amy singing over piano in the intro and it fades out at the end after the "Speak to me" whisper. Personally, I prefer the longer version. They're both brilliant though, and I don't feel that the shorter version actually takes too much from the original song. It's still beautiful in its own right, and it's nice to hear the intro line over piano just to add a slightly different take on it.

So I thought that the little boy in there is Jack but really, it's the director's son. Overall, I saw elements of My Immortal, Lithium and MHIB in the video. It feels like I've been transported to another world when I listened to this song (plus it's very calming). Kudos to Amy! Speak to Me has become a trend!

To add to this, the shorter version has additional instruments, more noticeable in the first verse, but I've heard different sounds in the end of the song too, just before the outro. The instrumental section is shorter too, almost half the length of the video version. And I have a feeling the drums are louder in the shorter version. Basically, the video version is probably the director's vision for the song and the movie, whereas the shorter version is a little more pop-sounding and radio-friendly.

After listening to both for a while, I've come to realize that I can't choose a favourite because I liked different elements in both. So I decided to have a go at editing them together and what I did was this: Intro (video version) First verse upto instrumental break (radio edit) instrumental break (video version) Last chorus (radio edit) Outro (video version) And I absolutely love it! I'm adding it to my channel later today so if anyone would like to listen to it, feel free! I'll embed the video here or leave a link if I'm allowed?

It's your own adaptation after all. Looking forward to hearing it! (:

Melikes! Definitely adds more of a dynamic to it having the more drum-focussed radio-edits in the choruses. I'm also really impressed by how seemlessly you've managed to merge the tracks. Had you not told us where each part originates from, I honestly wouldn't have noticed the merges. PROSKILLZ XD

I just can't find the right words to describe how awesome this whole project was. I watched the video for the first time only a couple of days ago and I was completely stunned by what i saw. Superb quality in everything. filming, directing, clothes, the song, acting. this is pure true art. it's simply Amy.Lee. I can do nothing other than watching the video and listen to the song over and over and it is in such moments that I feel immensely grateful for having this chance to find Ev and Amy and enjoy this woman's art. it has always been an honor for me to be a fan, Amy. Thank you Thank you THANK YOU for being Amy Lee and for keeping it up!

One of the biggest pushes for the film wasn’t from fans of Emilia Clarke, who is a wildly popular actress due to her role on “Game of Thrones”. Rather, it was from fans of Evanescence singer Amy Lee, who contributed the original song “Speak to Me” for the end credits. Eric spoke glowingly not only about the track but also about the experience of working with Lee, of putting everything together, and ultimately of shooting a music video to go along with the film. “You know the pinnacle of this experience might be, there’s a lot of them, but it might be sitting at Skywalker Ranch, posting our film, finally reaching Amy and giving her a copy of the film, She watches it, calls me immediately and says, ‘Tell me what you’re thinking because I’ve got an idea’, and all I know is I want the first thing the audience to hear at the end of the film is a woman’s voice. She said, ‘That’s exactly what I think’ and hung up. A day later she sends forty five seconds of the idea of “Speak to Me” and five grown men standing around a computer crying, turning away from each other because we hear the song that perfectly encapsulates the story that we’re trying to tell.
It is a painful story and there is true sadness to it and our antagonist is not a bad person, she’s a hurt person who’s been ripped apart from her son and she’s chosen to sing the song from the perspective of the antagonist of the film. We flew her out to the ranch, she continued to write the song – we had free reign at the ranch, just gave us the piano, the sound stage and the recording engineers – and we went to town on it. Her and Michael Wandmacher, our film’s composer, went to town on it and the finished result, the producers looked at each other and said ‘We have to go back to Italy, we have to shoot [the music video] at our location and tell the story.’“

The video is so friggin good. I also still get chills every time I listen to the song. Amy's voice is pure magic, unlike anything else I've ever heard. I'm so glad that I discovered Evanescence and remained a fan for long enough to hear this beautiful work of art. Hopefully we will get a lot more music like this out of Amy!
