Oh well, I've just managed to stumble across Canada's iTunes in which they offer Fallen in a 'Bonus Track Version' wherein 'My Immortal' (Alternate Version) has been stated as the 12th track off the record. Apparently, copyright still links back to 2003 with the only difference being that this particular version has been manufactured in Canada for (obviously) Canadian fans. itunes.apple.com/ca/album/fallen-bonus-track-version/id472971075There also happens to be that one version which includes an acoustic performance of MI instead: www.discogs.com/Evanescence-Fallen/release/2993786Those listed as 'Choir [Millenium Choir, The]' are the members of The Millenium Choir on this release.
℗ & © 2003 Wind-up Entertainment, Inc. Distributed in the United States by BMG Distribution, a unit of BMG Entertainment.
Repress is outwardly identical to This Release. Only difference is a new Matrix Number and Track 12 is a Hidden Track. PS: Here's for something interesting to check your Ev knowledge out with: eil.com/shop/PrinterFriendly.asp?Artist31=EvanescenceI'm pretty sure that "Alternate Version" on the Canadian iTunes is the Band Version. That Fallen on Discogs is apparently a US release. Well I have both US releases and neither of mine have an Acoustic Version of My Immortal as track 12. And what in the world is a matrix number? What did you want us to see on eil.com?

Was actually just sharing information based on my research. Anyway...
I cannot fully guarantee that each and every version presented isn't a fake one but Discogs seems like a rather reliable source. That's why I'd like to have the abovementioned US release that has MI's acoustic version on it either confirmed or declined by an American member.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but I'll do it anyway. (mods, fell free to move this post where it belongs if necessary) Does anyone know what actually happened at the 2004 billlboard Music Awards show?
Yeah, I know, too late to ask about it but still, I just can't forget it and my curiosity is insane So, The orchestra director approaches Amy, she lowers the key in the piano and says "sorry." The orchestra plays in the same key Amy is playing, and everything goes smoothly until baaang! the band kicks in and you know the rest of the story. How the hell did this happen??? Why was the orchestra in a lower key? How come the band members didn't kow about this? Why did Amy change the key if she knew that the band was going to play the song in another key? Did they rehearse the song before playing it live? What happened? who's fault was it? This was going to be the best effing performance if this "lil problem hadn't occured. I just can't get over it... can anyone bring some light to my mind please? (sorry about this, I just saw this vid again after some years and couldn't help it)

^I would assume that's what happened. At the beginning of the show they tuned the stuff down a bit and I guess Amy assumed someone would let the guys know to hurry up and retune their guitars or get retuned ones from the guitar techs.
Anyone looking for the Band Version on piano: here is a nice tutorial of what I think is the Band Version.
Part one:
Part two:
I'm going to try and write this out then make sheets for it.

You're welcome! I'm not sure if it's the band version or not, but it is definitely NOT the Origin or Track 4 Fallen version since those two are just chords basically. It may be the live version.

I know this may seem a little extreme, but I'm not willing to take it any longer. Around a year ago, I was sitting on a café on my own, patiently waiting for someone and thinking about life, suddenly a salsa song comes on from an informal music store nearby (for those who don't know, piracy is still giving a fight in its physical form in Latin America). Then I noticed the melody and it sounded awfully familiar, I put my drink down and pay attention to the lyrics and oh my God... It was My Immortal.
Now, I know everyone can make a cover of a song in any way they like and want, the problem is when you attempt to distribute that music to get profits from it, you need a license for that. At first I thought the song was a joke and would eventually fade away but no, it keeps coming on the radio and when Salsa songs turn into hits, they never stop playing them. I'd like to know if Wind-up or EMI Music granted that license for My Immortal, because it's making my ears bleed everytime I hear that song.
I'm only posting this thread to hear your opinions, agreements or disagreements with me. If anything can be done, I'd like to know just so people don't take me as crazy. I searched and no thread came up with this topic.
Oh and here's a link for you to listen:

Evans: I've moved your post to the My Immortal Thread instead of the general discussion thread as your newly created thread is about My Immortal. Please keep all and any kind of discussion of songs in their respective threads.

Is this version of "My Immortal" real? It sounds like the Mystary version with more string in the chorus.

The video audio is the audio I ripped from the video. It's a bit different from the versions released on the singles. The "Yeah yeah" that David does in MI are in the second and third chorus after "scream" in "When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears". These are only found in the "Origin" and "Fallen" versions though. In the lyrics below I have the "yeah yeah" in italics so when you're listening, you can see where I mean. Thank you for the information, AeternusAmatorius! When I heard MI for the first time, I didn't hear any David's "yeah yeah", I only heard the strings, piano & Amy's vocals. Well, as what you have said, I heard David's "yeah yeah" at the two versions of MI today. This is what I heard and I separate Amy and David's vocals to show the "yeah yeah" in MI:
Amy: When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears David: yeah........... yeah, yeah, yeah

I remember reading somewhere that the Mystary version of MI was recorded for Fallen, but Wind-Up wanted them to tweak and use the Origin version instead. Is there any truth to that? It seems like a really dumb thing to do, considering they already had the album (now Mystary) version recorded, and they re-recorded MI for the single anyways. Found the source to this. "The version of "My Immortal" used for the video and radio single isn't the same as the one off the band's record Fallen. Much to Lee's chagrin, Evanescence's label opted to use the band's demo version of the song on the record instead of the album recording. "The label was stuck on the demo and wouldn't let us use the version we really wanted," Lee said. "We fought back and forth about it and finally we gave in, but we were all so angry about it." A couple million album sales later, Evanescence have garnered the kind of clout that allows them to call some of the shots. So when "My Immortal" was decided upon as the next single, Evanescence elected to use their preferred recording of the song. "The version that's on the album is the one everyone has gotten used to hearing, so it might be a little hard for them to accept a new version," she agreed. "But it's really hard for me to listen to the album version because we did it two years ago — it was just me and guitarist Ben [Moody], and I've grown so much as a performer since then." Not only is Lee unhappy with her vocals, she dislikes just about everything about the demo version. "It's not even a real piano," she groaned. "And the sound quality is bad because we had to break into the studio to record it late at night when no one was around because we couldn't afford a real session." The new version of "My Immortal" was recorded as a full band and features strings arranged by Beck's dad, David Campbell." It wasn't very hard to find, it's on the My Immortal page on Wikipedia.

^ Thanks for posting that. I'd forgotten all that stuff. I can't believe Wind-Up insisted on them using an old demo instead of a new, well-recorded, good-sounding version. Her vocals on the album version stick out like a sore thumb. I didn't even realize it was a recording from freaking 1999 (according to Evref). I haven't been able to listen to the album version since the band version came out. It's just leaps and bounds better. Any version is better, really. After listening to the album version again after so many years, I realize, yep it still sounds awful. Terrible quality. Just ick. Can't believe the label made them use this recording.
