I like the bridge in this version very much but I find that the connection between bridge and the following chorus is kind of missing, I don't like the silence between. I prefer the Fallen version to this one.

This song may sometimes seem overused, but one can never grow tired of My Immortal.

I remember the day I first heard this version of this song, two years ago now. Just hours before being dumped. I listened to it again after it happened, and I just felt the lyrics raining on me, like the song was meant for me. It applied so much to my relationship, not just when we were together but even when we were just friends. I think I connected to this bridge better than the official bridge.

I agree and I sometimes just have to listen to it especially if I'm sad

I wasn't keen on the earlier versions of MI until I heard the bridge [I'd love to walk away and pull myself out of the rain But I can't leave without you I'd love to live without the constant fear and endless doubt But I can't live without you ] Then I was obsessed. The music overall is better in Fallen, but I just can't get over those lyrics...

If the lyrics from this version were combined with the piano melody of Fallen's version, My Immortal would be complete perfection.

I totally agree, these lyrics are more raw and powerful, but the piano sucks and Amy's voice sounds like she wants to die from being forced to sing thisxD the piano in the album is amazing and c'mon Amy we know you can sing!

This song is the one that made me fell in love with Ev and their music. I think the original version has better lyrics...

This song is the one that made me fell in love with Ev and their music. I think the original version has better lyrics... "I'd give the very breath from my chest..." Chills...so powerful.

I taught myself how to play piano properly with this song and a Final Fantasy song. No matter how many times I listen to My Immortal, I will always love it. It's always my go-to song when a piano is nearby.

My Immortal! <3 The everlasting Ev song...
I still prefer its band (and single) version with the added "rocky" part. I guess I'm just way too used to that version back from my childhood when that song actually came out as a single. There's in fact so much I could say about MI that I won't be able to express myself properly. It's just too much...
Too much pain and sadness in the lyrics, too much truth said in them, too much beauty in the piano parts and vocals, too much of... me.
I find the video breath-taking, despite it looking simple. The pink dress covered up by the black&white motif, the fountain, the square, Barcelona's Goth buildings, the lonely scenes in which Ben plays the piano, the equally lonesome ones wherein Amy's nestled on the tree, etc. It all fits the song perfectly. Both the song and the video give me a feeling of hopelessness and eternal longing.
PS: Someone had once asked Ben about the flickering-like sounds at the end of the song, and I believe he stated they weren't purposefully made but the band and album producer just decided to leave them in. Does anyone have that quotation?

At the end of the Fallen and the band versions can be heard a beeps code. This effect was used also at the end of Breathe No More and of Give Unto Me. This code was believed to be a morse code, but it turned out to be a false information; this is what Ben Moody explained about it: It's actually a preset pattern on a keyboard synthesizer that we were using on that song. And if you sustain the note long enough, it trails off into this beeping that sounds a lot like Morse Code and we thought that it sounded really cool, so we left it. So it's there by accident, to be perfectly honest with you.[1] evanescencereference.info/wiki/index.php?title=My_Immortal#cite_note-0

One of the coolest accidents ever. It's also heard in Eternal.

One of the coolest accidents ever. It's also heard in Eternal. That's news to me... Where is it in Eternal? Give me a time frame so I know where to look.
