Nonsense! There is a precedent! We both agree that Erase This is delicious. If you would just stop saying even remotely nice things about Sick.... Hehehe.... Sick of it all, sick of it all, I don't liiiiike Fallen. Sick of it all, Sick of it all, you don't understand how sick I am, sick I am of these bottomless pits called songs.... Aha! I've found the one good thing about Sick!

Actually, Amy has stated several times herself that the band wasn't really given the chance to be imaginative or whatsoever on Fallen. Wind-Up wanted a completely commercial and (seemingly) soulless sell-out product. And that's what they got, at least to some extent. Ev needed to make it big. TOD, for instance, probably wouldn't have gotten them that big, despite it being my favourite album of theirs. It just lacked the push and hit formula of Fallen that got us all into the band. And as much as I agree that song structures on it are overall boring, dull and stuff, I'm not gonna admit it's a bad album. I can't call songs such as MI, BMTL, GU, EF or Imaginary bad. That would simply be ridiculous. They may not be good enough but they still have something special to them. Lyric-wise, the album is just beautiful and so damn poetic... Way better than the lyrics to CMWYS (for example) mind you. I'm also not sure whether the band actually had enough time to polish all the songs since Amy also had to take performing lessons in between and on top of that, some of the songs were written during the pre-production of the album. (If my memory serves me well.) I mean, let's face it; both TOD and Ev3 took years to be written and fine-tuned. Ev couldn't afford doing so with Fallen. And still, it's their most successful album up-to-date. That says a lot already.

I agree with you in two BIG things: A)Wind-Up is to blame the most about a good percentage of Fallen's sound and B) I wouldn't call it a bad album either. I don't think I did. I'm just not satisfied with the final "product", taking what I know this band is capable of. Now, I disagree with you on this: A) Ev had YEARS and YEARS to polish the songs on Fallen, lets no forget only grandma Imaginary is almost 20 years old! It's been around I think since 1997 or something close to that; B) TOD didn't lack the "hit formula" because it's not necesarry for every album in the history of time to be a "hit", and being a "hit" does not guarantee that it's good or not. Take as an example most of the popular music these days. And, hey, TOD is my favourite album too! Also, I like the way this discussion is going since, that is, after all the purpose of the board, NEVERTHELESS, I think we should move this one (in case you have more opinions to face with mines) to the Fallen thread, because it's getting kind of topic. SO, I really like My Last Breath...

SO, I really like My Last Breath... I'm just gonna finish our face-to-face discussion here. Being a hit does not necessarily mean being good, of course. I'm pretty damn aware of that. But even though Ev had years to polish Fallen, I don't believe they were given the creative freedom for it. Also, having worked on the very same songs for years in a row while still being a demo/unsigned band does NOT necessarily mean they have progressed well enough on them. I mean, sure, there has been a huge improvement from Ev's first EPs all the way to Fallen's pre-production but I still don't feel that they could have given any more than that while still trying to remain in the hit-pattern, given their young age, too. In the end, they still managed to give their all under some certain circumstances and that's about it.

Don't mind me, I'm just going fishing.

Please, do explain yourself. It was a long day at the lake, but it looks like dinner's here! Hmmm... Where to begin.... It gets by purely on a good vocal melody and lyrics with no musical substance whatsoever, perhaps one of the worst songs on Fallen in terms of musicianship. In practice, EF is one of the few songs from Fallen that I actually like, but objectively it is very weak song. Of course, I also feel this way about all the other songs on Fallen. There are two ways to view music: feeling and judging. EF definitely has strong feels and atmosphere, but it completely falls apart when exposed to critical listening. Skill is a part of good music, no matter how much many people want to deny it. Music that lacks skill is still enjoyable, but it is not a complete work of music. EF lacks an interesting or even meaningful composition, it's all just atmosphere and filler underneath the voice. Funnily enough, considering what EF is about, it has more in common with engineered pop stars than it would like to admit.

I can't decide whether this song sounds better in G minor (demo key) or F# minor (Fallen key). They're both awesome. It's like the live and Fallen versions of Everybody's Fool...

Has anyone heard these 2012 performances of MLB? Amy plays the piano at the end!

...How have I never seen this? Sounds cool with her little piano bit. I kind of wish she made the piano line a little more prominent/intense; that song meshes well with piano.

I love how the Fallen songs have evolved live since during T.O.D. and Ev3 eras, I kind of feel like they're really coming into their own now.

Today marks the anniversary of the events that inspired this song. I shall listen to this song multiple times today.
