Fantastic interview! She pretty much just confirmed everything I've been thinking lately about Ev and touring. But I'm fine with it all. I'm ok with waiting a while for new Ev and getting solo stuff in the meantime and with her not wanting to do big tours anymore. I'm still really excited about future music from her and from Ev down the road.
Also, looove that picture!

I makes me kind of sad what she confirmed about Ev. I know it's too be expected and goes without saying, yet to have her come out and say it hits differently.

Bittersweet news. But I am not surprised or upset about it. Amy JUST HAD A BABY. Can we take a moment to wrap our heads around that PLUS the fact that she is releasing her solo work in a few weeks. I am just really happy that Amy has all the artistic freedom she's always wanted.

Lycrymosa I see. Thank you. Hopefully if they ever do smaller tours, they come to my area (although I think by the time Ev would be active again, I will probably have already moved out of my parent's home, and might move to a larger area).

I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I need to comment on that pic right now. Sooooooooooo adorable . Ok, so, with that said, I can't say I'm surprised by her comments on Ev, her future in music and Wind-Up. It was a given that Amy was going to take a while with her kid and maybe release solo stuff since she doesn't have Win-Up's pressure anymore, so it was kinda obvious that we were not going to get a new Ev album anytime soon. So I'm ok with that. She has also said several times before that touring extensive tours wasn't her favorite part of the job, she likes more being in the studio doing music and clearly prefers small tours, especially now that she's a mom. So no big news there. However, this is the first time that she's very, very direct about all these things, no sugarcoating involved, you can tell she doesn't have Wind-Up behind her trying to control things. I'm very intrigued to know what really went on between her and the label besides the obvious things we know (them getting in the way of what Amy wanted to do). It's bittersweet though to think that if things don't work out right for a possible Ev comeback maybe I'll never see them live . And if Amy does small tours I doubt she'll come near my country. Also, without Wind Up ruining their ideas, I was excited to hear what they could do together, as I said several times before I think the current members are the best Ev has had, they gave such a new life to Ev's music (in my opinion). The sweet part is that we'll get to hear all of Amy's creativity without boundries and probably no more 6-years gaps to hear new music. Oh, and AWESOME interview!!!

I think I've come to terms with the fact that I am more so a fan of Amy Lee the musician than of Amy Lee the Evanescence front woman. Yes, it's very sad that the band might not be getting together for a LONG time (or maybe ever again), but they are all musicians, and one thing you all should know about musicians is that they NEVER stop making music. The fact that she stated that fact in this interview makes me very happy. I am a fan of Amy Lee's music, and whether it's in the form of Evanescence, a solo album, a collaboration, or a movie soundtrack, I will always feel satiated musically as long as she never calls it quits on making music. This break with Wind Up is the greatest thing that could have happened. Yes, Amy Lee might never have the same commercial success (or maybe she might) that Evanescence had, but as a musician, I can tell you all that this new music is on an entirely different level than anything she's done before. Wind Up kept trying to cut her wings off, but now that she has them, we get to see what her visions and creations really manifest themselves into. I'm so excited for her future, and I know that, no matter what, I will always stand by her as a loyal fan to the very end (you know, cause her music is the shit).

She acknowledged Origin's existence I thought she completely forgot about that album. This pretty much confirms that Wind-up forced the band to change the sound of the self-titled. Exactly my thought. And I will forever resent this truth.

Not happy. Don't get me wrong. I love Amy Lee, but knowing that there is no plan for Evanescence in the future is really sad. Mostly because now Wind Up and Ev have nothing to do anymore. It sounds like a finished chapter in her life. Not that I liked Wind Up, it's totally the oposite, actually. That Label was lame and probably It was one of the main drama sources for Amy Lee. Had they worked better, things were gonna be so,so different... That's what makes me sad. They made Ev happen but at the same time they knida killed her dreams. I feel like Ev could have been a lot bigger than it was.
On a more sefish side, I'm also sad that I was not able to meet her. I did attend to one of Ev gigs though, but I wanted to meet her, and now that she's gone independent It will be a lot harder to get to see her in person.
On the other hand. I think the movie score will be cool. Amy looks really exited about it and obviously her newborn child is gonna change her life. I wish her and her family the best. I just hope Amy puts out music more often, as she has the freedom to do so. I won't get mad at her if she doesn't, but I will surely be sad if that's the case.

Before Evanescence finally parted from Wind-Up, I was definitely hoping they would, and I knew that if it came down to it, I'd always prefer to have amazing music made without a record company's pressure instead of commercial success. It's a no-brainer, really. Amy is going to be making wonderful music and sharing it with us, and no one can ever tell her how to do it again. Even though she may not be doing what's mainstream, it's not like she's not going to have any commercial success because there are people in the world who will always remember Evanescence, even if it's only for Bring Me to Life and My Immortal. People who might not like Ev very much might end up enjoying her solo work, for all we know. And then of course there's people like us, the fanbase, who have the entire discography burned into our brains and hearts forever.
I feel like our possibilities are endless now. Who knows? Maybe one day Amy will score a film and her score will win an Academy Award or something.
Also, without Wind Up ruining their ideas, I was excited to hear what they could do together, as I said several times before I think the current members are the best Ev has had, they gave such a new life to Ev's music (in my opinion). I was thinking of this too; Terry, Tim, Troy, and Will bring so much passion to the music, and that's why they're my favorite line-up (aside from all of them just being awesome in general lol). But, they're all friends as well as musicians, which adds to the hope that we'll have another Ev album, even it's a while from now.

I'm happy for Amy, but like many others have said, I'm a little bit sad that Evanescence and the album and touring cycle have been laid to the wayside (at least for now). It just makes me regret my decision not to see them live for "Evanescence" even though I would have had to go alone. There is a very real chance now that I'll never get to see my favorite musical act perform live now

I think that what Amy said about EV is what every reasonable person has been thinking.. I'm not expecting anything ev related for the next 5 years for sure and to be honest that's what is the best for amy and the band. It woudn't feel right if Amy was forced to write Ev songs just to please the fans (or the record company like before) when she clearly doesn't feel like. I hope that's not the end though and i have a feeling that sooner or later the EV part of Amy will come out again In cocnlusion, sad because of Ev (never seen them live ), excited for Amy's solo music (i've been waiting for that since the lillywhite sessions to be honest) and the most cute pic of Jack (god he's really cute.. and looks kinda like Josh here haha )

Bit sad that the future of Evanescence seems so uncertain - it feels kind of final to me, though I guess the message here is never say never. Saying that, I'm looking forward to Aftermath and what Amy can do as a solo artist. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) more frequent random songs and maybe independent EP's and albums, seeing what Amy can do and explore without being held back by the restraints of a label or a "sound" she's expected to fill. Go crazy, Ames.
But rightly so, I think her focus right now is her little boy. All that other stuff can wait until she's ready.

This feels like such a downer now, when I was so excited for Aftermath. Even though Aftermath is exciting, it's a concept album, rather than an actual album. So we're probably only going to get about 4 songs with vocals. I'm excited to hear Amy solo, but I'm upset that Evanescence has gone for the foreseeable future and we never got a chance to say goodbye. Most fans of artists get an album every few years and we probably won't get another one for a decade. I'd rather have "no, we'll never come back" than "we may or may not, I'm not bothered".
Selfishly though, I'm thinking that New York and babies are expensive and releasing music independently doesn't create a great deal of profit...so we may have to wait until Amy is living off of Supernoodles before we get another album.

Honestly, this is awesome. Nothing needs to happen with Evanescence at all; we have three studio albums, 10 years of live material out there somewhere, demos and E.Ps. Not to say that it's not a shame that we may never get anything new from Evanescence, because obviously nobody knows at this point. But what better way to go out than Ev3?
I don't feel that Evanescence ever wound up contrived or tired like so many other bands that arguably out-stay their welcome. They are a great memory that we are all a part of, and given the way that the music business and society in general is headed, the time for this is perfect - much more so than if this occurred after Fallen or The Open Door.
The time is nigh for Amy and the rest of the band to go out and start other chapters, whatever they might be. I'm going to be as excited as the rest of you if or when Evanescence do come back, but in some ways I don't want it to happen, partially because 'Where do they go from Ev3?' and also just plain and simply leaving the memories alone.
