Evanescence, Track #12
Way down I’ve been way down Underneath this skin Waiting to hear my name again
I’m sorry Nothing can hold me I adore you still If I hear them calling And nothing can hold me
Way down (Do you really want me?) All the way down (Do you really want me?) I will hear your voice (Do you really want me?) But I’ll no longer understand (No one's really loved me)
I’m sorry Nothing can hold me I adore you still But I hear them calling
I was looking to the sky When I knew I’d be swimming home And I cannot betray my kind They are here - it’s my time
I’m sorry Nothing can hold me (Do you really want me?) I adore you still But I hear them calling - (calling) And nothing can hold me

My recording from Atlantic City! Sorry there is only that one angle. I wasn't supposed to record, but had to sneak in this one, for Swimming Home .

This is SUCH a beautiful song. The lyrics are mellow, yes, but they're just beautiful, the whole song is sugar: Amy's sweet voice, the harp, the cute, little electronic sounds. This is a very atmospheric song, that's one of my favorite aspects abou it. It's also sad, because it's about someone leaving this life, but the whole song is just so peaceful. Also, after Amy's constant belting through out the album, this song is a breath of fresh air. I can finally listen to her lower register and it sounds so, so beatiful

Man, I just listened to all sixteen songs in a row recently... It was long, but this song was SUCH A RELIEF from the constant belting... After a certain point this becomes by far the most enjoyable song you could listen to on this album.

I agree! I think that's one reason I love this song so much. And it's just beautiful. I still can't get over how excited I am that I got to hear it live. And I really did feel like I was in the water just floating, hearing it like that. The sound is absolutely beautiful.

I have to say, this is probably my favorite song ever. In all of existence, because it takes me to the most beautiful place I ever imagined, and I feel at total peace.
Whenever I listen to it, I have this weird vision. In the vision, I feel like I'm at the bottom of the sea, except there's nothing below me. Kind of like I'm in space, too. And the substance surrounding me is neither water nor air. And I'm completely enveloped in this warmth, except the warmth is also cool at the same time, like cool water on a hot day. It's totally dark around me, yet at the same time lights in the same color as the album cover is dancing all around me.

I always picture the ocean and sky with a bright sun, it's calm and peaceful and birds Are flying, such a calm place I love to be...

When I listened to the whole album, this song was the song that I kept on repeating. I love it even more now, after the London show. <3 It's also the song I usually listen to at night, when I'm in bed.

This song is probably my least fave of Ev3, but when it was played in London, it sounded so magical it was amazing.

I always picture the ocean and sky with a bright sun, it's calm and peaceful and birds Are flying, such a calm place I love to be... I see pretty much the exact same thing. Whenever I let my imagination get into the song, it's like I'm looking through the eyes of some aquatic creature or spirit or whatever floating near the surface of the ocean, looking up through the water into the sky (which is usually bright orange/pink with an enormous yellow sun setting in the distance).... Swimming Home gives me the lovelies, hehehe.

That song creates quite a dreamy feeling. It's a chill one if you simply need to relax and listen to something along these lines. Its back vocals are soothing, the harp and electronic motifs fit well with the overall sound, and Amy's voice is soft and sweet. In all honesty though, I have no clue what the lyrics are actually about, and I cannot relate to them all that much, either. ;D The only similarity in my case would be my different "homes" but that's about it... PS: I could NEVER get tired of all the belting on that record! Guess it's just a personal preference of some sort.
