Evanescence, Track #8
Embrace the silence 'Cause there's nothing That can change the way I feel Taken all that you wanted Now there's nothing That can change the way I feel
Hold on, little girl The end is soon to come
Sick of it all Sick of it all We will not follow Sick of it all Sick of it all They don't understand how Sick we are Sick we are Of this bottomless Pit of lies Behind closed eyes
Oceans between us And there's nothing That can change the way I feel I can still taste the poison Of every thought, Every breath I wasted here.
Hold on, little girl The end is soon to come
Sick of it all Sick of it all We will not follow Sick of it all Sick of it all They don't understand how Sick we are Sick we are Of this bottomless Pit of lies Behind closed eyes
Someday you'll know the pain Someday the light will break through And nothing you tell yourself Will save us from the truth
Screaming out! Sick of it all Sick of it all We will not follow Sick of it all Sick of it all They don't understand how Sick we are Sick we are Of this bottomless Pit of lies Behind closed eyes

Kinda sums up how I feel about this whole EvThreads business. So glad we have this place to congregate.

Kinda sums up how I feel about this whole EvThreads business. So glad we have this place to congregate. Nooo, the whole how-we-feel thing is much more complicated. It's like a mash-up of Sick, New Way to Bleed, Never Go Back... probably at least half of the songs on the album. Anyway, I love the power of this song and shouting (no, not singing) along.

I think Your Star should be thrown in the mix there, as well

This should have been the 2nd single, the chorus is anthemic and should be able to garner radio spins from both Rock & Pop radios.

I reckon its got potential as a single, much darker and edgier than anything they've released.

I like that new long drum intro which they added recently...

I wonder if Troy could arrange a solo for this song too, it just demands one! But I wouldn't put it at the 'middle eight/bridge' but after the first chorus or something, otherwise it'd sound too 'mainstream'. It'd break the usual pattern.

I love Sick, it's so hardcore and straightforward. A lot of Evanescence's songs can be hardcore but metaphorical, less straightforward than this. I love how with Sick they were able to just come out and scream how they feel.

I like Sick, but i think it doesn't stand out after you listen to the album over and over again. It's part of my "random EV3 songs" list. This is one of those songs (next to The Other Side) that i loved at first listen, but then listening carefully to the album i just labeled them under the "average" list. They have things i like, but the songs themselves are pretty average and not a big deal. It's got good points, though. I like the lyrics, the fact that they're about the label is a plus, because the chorus pretty much sums up how i feel about the label rejecting Ev's music whenever they think it's not "Evanescence enough" and so they ask them to change it to suit the more mainstream scene. I beg for Ev to sign to another label soon. The song is very anthemic like you guys said, it's very catchy and energetic. I definitely like that. Amy's voice sounds AWESOME, very raw, with a lot of anger and frustration, i love how she sings: "Of every thought, Every breath I wasted here". Bad-ass. Musically, it doesn't offer much and it lacks a guitar solo like no other song on the album. It sounds too repetitive without something in the middle. The music in general sounds uninspired to me. Energetic and powerful, but uninspired. It's super catchy and easy to digest and i think that's what keeps me going back to it from time to time. It's one of those easy songs to listen to, like Halestorm's "i get off". It doesn't offer much musically, but you can't help listening because it's got tremendous hook and power.

Uninspired is the key word for this song, I think. I like listening to it, but it's soooo derivative of other works and not even modern ones. It's uninspired and old fashioned. I looove the noises in this one (unfortunately you can barely hear them) and particularly the start of the second verse with the quiet booms and piano. I love that part.... If that part had been expanded upon the song wouldn't sound so typical. It also has one of the best m8's on the album. (It's funny... Back on old Evthreads I was the one who brought up the term middle eight and how bridge actually refers to a different part of the song, but through continued misuse the two words came to mean the same thing, but now I'm uncomfortable with how often the phrase middle eight is said, haha.... It doesn't flow right in a sentence :[ hehehe)... But I can't get past the things I dislike about the song. The guitar part at the beginning of the song is so painfully unoriginal, the use of "little girl" in the lyrics, etc... This is one of those songs I'm conflicted about.

This is one of my favourite songs, cuz you can just blast it and sing along to it. I don't care about all the other mumble jumble, I just sometimes want a song I can put my fist and the air and sing and rock out too. It's actually one of my favourites on the album . The lyrics are simple, but fall into so many categories for me. It f'n rocks live too, and I love the new intro to it too. Ev has many other songs, that are deeper, or more lyrically , or musically driven and are probably more advanced but sometimes all you need is simple!

This song just doesn't stand out to me either. Like SYW I will listen if I'm listening to the whole album, I won't skip it, but I don't seek it out. It's definatley in the lower rankings for me.
