It still has not sunk in.
This has to be a joke. A dream. My fucking imagination. PINCH ME DAMN IT.
Way better than a new album right now. Amy deserves something new to focus on. What better than the anticipation of a new life?

I feel the exact same way. And all these news sources mentioning it? I'm like...seriously? Anything Ev has been off the radar for so very long, but Amy's pregnancy is being recognized? ...Hell yeh! Amy is still the face of chicks in hard rock. That's how it should be.

I can't help but be curious as to what's going on with the record label, and if she will find a new one to sign on to when all is said and done.

Wind-Up sold Evanescence's back catalog (previous master recordings) and any future master recordings to Bicycle. I think that will be Ev's new label should they decide to come back. You can refer to the thread here: Wind-Up Records News

I think it's lovely that Amy is embarking on a new family and I wonder if, like Christina, having a child will inspire her music. I just wonder if she and Evanescence will be on a hiatus because of it for a long time. Christina took 4 years off and I know Amy has been off the scene for 5 years before Ev3 already.
I don't mean tour. Just in releasing a new album/EP/music in general, or if she'll still be interested in making music after this. I have faith she will since she wanted Ev3 released ASAP due to the long hiatus, and during the Lillywhite sessions she seemed genuinely inspired to make and release music again. It's the ideal time to have a child now since other band members are too. I think if she is able to release some back catalog in the mean time (and whatever else she's working on, like the War Story score) then it'll be great since she'll still have a presence but can take time to relax and enjoy pregnancy.

I think Amy will be inspired and still write no matter what. She has said that if she wasn't in Evanescence she would probably be a music teacher and do scores (since that's what she was going to school for before they signed to Wind-Up) because she would always have to be writing and creating something. Heck! Amy may have been inspired by the beauty of the leaves changing on trees or something and wrote a song inspired by that. We just don't know! lol.

In Amy's defense, Ev3 would have been out in 2010 and she'd be half way through a fourth album by now had she not been stalled. I think she'll continue to write as well, I just am concerned if she'll record while pregnant. Her growing abdomen will affect her breathing and lung capacity for sure, and she won't want to exert herself. I'm hoping the lawsuits and all that end up being because Amy would like to make use of her back catalog alongside whatever she is or will be working on in the near future for a project to release while she takes time off to start a family. I hope that doesn't sound selfish, but I honestly don't mean it that way. I'm not a fan of tours, live shows or whatever - but I am a major album guy. I love new albums/EPs and I know she has enough under her belt to take the hiatus she'll need without it being like pre-Ev3 with a dry 5 years of nothing. It may all be in the hands of the courts and Wind Up for all we know.

It may all be in the hands of the courts and Wind Up for all we know. It's completely understandable! I feel the same way about Amy and her singing. She will definitely be limited in what she can do because, as you have said, her abdomen will be growing. With Bicycle taking over the back catalog and any new master recordings Ev does, I'm not sure if that includes the Lillywhite sessions at all because all we really know about them is that they are demos. Though they may be in mastered format, but we have no way of knowing how far along they were in the engineering/mixing/mastering process for those songs. I have to agree with you that I would like it for Ev to release an EP of unreleased material if the hiatus is going to be an extended amount of time. And I am just like any other fan, I would love to hear the Lillywhite stuff, but we have no idea what this lawsuit of Wind-Up will do and if the 2009 session songs (and other's that we do not know about) were transferred. But all in all, it's up to Amy. If she chooses to do something like that and is contractually able to do something like that with previously unreleased songs, then so be it. If she doesn't decide to do something like that or isn't contractually able, then we have to respect that and not be under the impression that Amy and/or the band owe us something just because we are fans. Idk. Just my two cents and my ramblings about this. Either way I am very happy and excited for Amy and Josh and for Tim and Dani. I think they will be great parents, and it will be nice to see if their kids will grow up together/knowing each other.

She definitely doesn't owe us or anyone anything, be it material, information, responses, etc. But I will say I see a lot of potential and appreciate a lot about Amy's music and talent to hope we haven't seen the last of her for a while. I don't get that impression though, but for now I think finding a way to see War Story is my priority lol

It's hard being a fan and not knowing things, but we don't have to know everything. I think, as fans, we get way to engrossed in what "could be" or "what might have been" than actually appreciating what we actually have. I understand very clearly that people want to hear the electronic side of Amy (as do I) but we just need to be patient and come to terms that we may never hear that side in it's entirety. As you have said, Amy has a lot of potential and many talents. I also agree that I don't see Amy dropping completely out of touch with the "fame" and "celebrity-ism" after she and Josh have their child. If Evanescence doesn't come back (which I also don't see happening in the near future) Amy will probably give us little presents here and there like she already has. Yes! I hope that War Story will be on Netflix or VOD (Comcast/Xfinity) sometime later this year if it's not picked up by a studio.

Hi guys! I haven't posted much lately, but I've been lurking around quite a bit. There are so many things going on in the world of Amy Lee! I'm so excited for Amy and Josh and wish them nothing but the best with the pregnancy. The baby will be beautiful, intelligent, and insanely talented, I'm sure.
I know it's selfish to think this, but this news is making me want to give up on Evanescence. I know several of you have given examples of other female musicians who have had children and returned to making music, but this is Amy Lee we are talking about. She takes a minimum of 5 years off between albums, and that was before she had a precious bundle of joy to take care of. She isn't going to want to release music or tour until the child is at least in middle school, I'm sure. You can hate me for being selfish and thinking like this all you want, but it's not going to change my mind. Evanescence is my favourite band of all time and I think Amy Lee is one of the most talented people on the planet, but I don't see her reaching anywhere near her full potential with a child on her hip anytime soon. /bittersweet

I know it's selfish to think this, but this news is making me want to give up on Evanescence. i don't hate you, i can understand this. but what is to 'give up' on them? can you quit? there's no way, as far as i know. Ev is a lifestyle...
