I'm really happy for Amy, she's so lucky that she can try all these different things and still have support. I'm thankful she still sticks around. It not easy always being in the spotlight and she handles it so well and always takes time for herself and well-being. She's such an inspiration to me on how she handles things and takes care of herself. She's such a strong person and I'm very proud of her. Keep your dreams up, Amy!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to hear some of the stuff Amy has squirrelled away (I'm sure we all would) and sometimes I find the lack of material frustrating but I think the thing to remember is we're not entitled to anything. The music Amy and the guys make belongs to them, they're the artists. It doesn't belong to us just because we love it and we buy it. It's easy these days to see music as a product and not an art created by a real, human person. If Amy decides never to release any of that stuff I'm personally dying to hear then that's something that I'll just have to accept because they're her (or their) songs, or if we have to wait until the time's right for whatever reason, the same thing goes.
Personally, I don't think she means to tease us. I think she's just trying to keep hope alive that while they're on a break there is still the potential for unheard material. Maybe. It's better than giving us no news whatsoever. I'll happily go obsess about some other artist until something new comes along!

Exactly. By the way, don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those obsessive, crazy fans.I don't go around trolling the internet like "make a new music right now, goddamnit". Although it'd be awesome to hear some new music. I'm just being realistic about an artist situation, as I mentioned Amy surely knows that as I do. And getting 2 new interview bits in a week is hard to devour especially when it comes from Evanescence since we all know how they are when they're in between 2 albums.I'm grateful for that. The point is that it's kind of pathetic to put them in godlike position. I have experienced that myself when I criticized them I became the black sheep both here and the old threads. ladylollydragon (Kazlan), it's really out of place but I love your signature Its nice to hear something, its nice to see her doing new things she loves to do but when the only "news" we ever get is "I have this and its really awesome and I'm glad I got to share it with a handful of people who could afford to fly across the country." Its kind of irritating. From a fan who doesnt have money to do those things it makes me personally feel left out and under appreciated. Same thing with IYDM being played like what? Three times? I wonder if we would have gotten to hear Find A Way at all if those lucky fans didn't record it for us? Interesting to think about, but I think Amy made sure to play IYDM when the Brazil show was being streamed and recorded. On another note, while we should remain respectful to Amy and the band members at all times, remember to stay respectful to other Evthreads members as well. It's okay to have differing opinions and discuss/debate them in a calm manner.

Just because we are fans it does not mean we are entitled to everything all the time. You cant feel under appreciated because you couldn't afford to go to a show that was across the country. Thats not very fair to Amy/ artists involved. Obviously its going to be select people going, just like any concert, with any other band. Because its a select date and a select time doesn't mean that they are teasing people on purpose, and wanting people to feel left out. Thats a personal choice to feel that way. Im grateful for what we got, even if it is a fan recording. Without them we would still have nothing. Personally im glad that the people who went could go, or the fans who were there for the live IYDM were at that concert. Gives them their own memories and experiences, we shouldn't rob that feeling from them over jealousy. I dont think we will have an ev record in the near future, if at all. Im also not expecting to have a bunch of un released material come out either, Im happy knowing that there is something to look forward to in regards to the future of ev/ Amy. So if we get little bits of gems here and there until something substantial then so be it!

Whoa, so much drama and negativity just because Amy made an interview. The one thing we should remember is that we are getting at least some new music from Amy this year - the War Story score. I can understand the frustration of "I have this great new song but I don't know if and when I'll release it", but I think we just need to learn to be patient and see if any more information comes out. After all, Amy is only human and we can't expect her to answer all our questions in her first interview in a long time. I also agree with Kazlan that some of us were shocked by the sudden negativity.
As for new Ev music, I think what we should keep in mind is this: they have not announced plans to break up, and neither Terry, Tim, Troy, nor Will have announced that they are leaving the band. If no new Ev music is released in 2014 as some of us including myself have hoped for, then it is even more possible that we may get it in 2015, which is still less then five years!

Whoa, shit's getting heated in here haha. I can understand some people's frustrations. Amy is being a little evil here saying, "Oh the studio version is way more amazing, but I don't know when I'll let you hear it, if ever lol!" Hahaha. I personally don't even mind though, because I think the acoustic version is perfection and I'm totally satisfied with it. In your face, Amy! I also don't really care that we haven't really gotten new Ev music in a while. I mean, really, we kind of have with "IYDM" and "Find A Way" last year. And I'm stoked that we're getting this film score and new song from Amy soon. That's way more music than I ever expected during this down time. I guess I find it easy to not care that much about the wait because some of my other favorite bands go like 5-10 years between albums (I'm looking at you, Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Portishead). I get the frustration over these semi-long waits Ev puts us through. It's easy to get angry and annoyed and wonder why they don't just get together and write and put out some damn music. But think about it...would any of us really want Ev to make music that their heart wasn't fully into? I would never want Amy or the band to just become a machine that cranks out music every 2-3 years, regardless of whether it's great or not. Some bands and artists do have the fortunate ability to put out consistently great music every couple of years, but not all artists are like that. Some require more time to be inspired, or simply want to do other things in their lives other than be a slave to the band they're in. I'm not sure where this talk of getting a new Ev album this year is coming from either. It seems pretty clear to me that Amy is still very much exploring other avenues right now. I hope she'll start working on some new Ev stuff this year, but I don't think there's any way we're getting an album this year.

Im also not expecting to have a bunch of un released material come out either, Im happy knowing that there is something to look forward to in regards to the future of ev/ Amy. So if we get little bits of gems here and there until something substantial then so be it! I recall an interview after the release of Ev3 where Amy said that she'd be interested in releasing music in digital EPs in the future because she thinks that the music industry is evolving with the internet and that it would be easier than creating a full LP and delivering it to fans. And I think I remember her saying something about thinking it would be cool to release a B-Sides and Rarities one day. So, considering it's the first half of January, I'm not ruling out Evanescence music this year. I don't think the band would have to tour if they released an EP, which means it wouldn't take away from Tim's daddy-time or Amy's other projects, but it would give the fans something to hold on to for the future wait. Then again, considering the lawsuit with Wind-Up, it's very possible that we won't be getting any Ev music for the next two years simply because the band won't be allowed to release anything until the lawsuit is over. I'm an avid Breaking Benjamin fan, and after a short hiatus due to the lead singer's illness, he started a lawsuit with two of the other band members for doing things behind his back and without permission, and it was two years before the lawsuit was over and we heard anything about the band at all. I hate to say it, but I think that's likely going to be the case with Evanescence.

We still don't know the details of the alleged lawsuit, other than a TMZ article with less than reliable information.

I hate to say it, but I think that's likely going to be the case with Evanescence. Actually, another problem is how about those recording companies around the world who releases Ev album? Yes, I know the lawsuit would favor Evanescence. But how about the local companies who release albums in Europe, Americas and Asia? The companies that agreed to release Ev album under the Wind Up records? I'm sure they will need to start again to the process until they get in touch with Bicycle Music Company. Another thing is, the 4th Ev album will be release lately due to the change of labels. 2014 is not the year for the new album. 2015 will be the earliest year to get the whole band back to the studio and record for the new album. I feel like another 5 year break between albums because of this issues regarding the label and Amy solo projects. I know Amy hyped us but don't get your hopes too high because we know Amy had to keep all things in order in her mind so we should respect whatever she says or so. Don't rush her. I have felt the feeling of being rushed by the people around me.

I can still see the possibility of Ev getting back together to play maybe one or two shows kinda like the Maquinaria Festival in the near future just to prove they still exist. The lawsuit won't keep them from playing together.

While you are right and there are some obligations that must be filled when you're in a job like this, Amy doesn't owe us anything at all, especially not at this stage in her career. Public figures are still human, and unless they've promised something and not delivered, they don't owe anything to their fans other than gratitude for helping elevate their careers. We know that Amy is thankful for us, she's said it time and time again and she's given us a lot of herself throughout the years. Right now, there isn't anything she needs to be doing. She hasn't promised us anything and so she doesn't owe us anything. If she never had another interview, never played another show, never did anything that would put her on the map ever again she still wouldn't owe us anything. She's a person, and as a person she needs to put herself first sometimes. I find that a lot of public figures end up dehumanised by people who think they owe them something. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of EvFans that got vicious because they thought they were owed 'Your Love' from Legends and Lyrics. I think that, when it comes down to it, it's easier to deal with long band hiatuses when you realise that they don't owe you anything other than their gratitude. I pretty much agree with everything you said here. However, I do kind of feel we are owed "Your Love" in a sense. We were given the preview, approximate release date, it never happened. Now we've been strung along for the past five years, with "Someday. Someday" I understand this is not Amy's fault. Nor the fault of the gentleman who booked her, only to get hounded and harassed everyday and who probably thinks every Ev fan is a malicious asshat. I understand the funding issue by L&L, but when it comes down to it yeah, they did sort of promise us.

We still don't know the details of the alleged lawsuit, other than a TMZ article with less than reliable information. TMZ could have the information wrong, definitely, but so long as the lawsuit is between Evanescence/Amy and Wind-Up Records, it doesn't really matter what it's about. It's going to halt a lot of things for Evanescence. Yeah, Your Love wasn't the best example. Lol. The anger from some of the fans was what I was thinking of when I referenced it. We were promised Your Love and the rest of the Legends and Lyrics performance, it's just there were a lot of unfortunate circumstances that were out of our (and everyone's) control. However, I'm sure there wouldn't have been such a backlash to waiting for YL if those angry fans had considered the feelings of those involved and that was the point I was trying to make.
