Last night, I had an idea... whenever we remove the lead vocals from a song, the backing vocals become more prominent. So I thought to myself, what would happen if I were to try and remove the vocals from an official acapella? Sounds daft, right? The vocals have already been separated, why remove them from themselves? Perhaps to remove the main vocals from the backing vocals? And I managed to do exactly that. The main vocals can still be heard but it varies; some are barely audible but others are a bit louder. Nevertheless, the backing vocals are loud and clear I hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I did. I'm currently in the process of uploading these backing vocals to YouTube (download links will be added in a few days): Bring Me To Life Call Me When You're Sober Everybody's Fool LithiumWeight Of The World What You WantIf anyone wants me to silence the main vocals in between, make your request known in this thread and I'll do so. Sadly I cannot remove the main vocals sung along with the backing vocals. DOWNLOAD

OOOOH! This is so neat! Thank you for your work on this All that is left to do is Going Under, right? Since the backing vocal version that came with the Multi-Tracks has added stuff to it right?

I didn't forget Going Under, there's just no backing vocals to isolate since they were merged with the 'Extras' track instead of with the main vocal track. I tried the same trick with the extras track and it didn't work, as I guessed it wouldn't

I love What You Want's. They're so upbeat and kind of poppy. Feels like she had so much fun recording them.

I really love the CMWYS backing vocals, especially knowing that Amy's sisters recorded them. Although, I wonder if Amy also recorded them because every now and then it just sounds like her... Thank you so much for these! Usually when I sing along with a song, I try and harmonise because I don't wanna detract from the actual vocals because I wanna listen (and because harmonising is fun) and now I know what the harmonies to these songs are.

I think Carrie and Lori do the backing vocals in the verses WITH Amy and Amy does the backing vocals in the choruses.

Same, when she told us her sisters did the backing vocals, I was under the impression it was just them. But there are times when it sounds like Amy, so I assumed she did the backing vocals with them.

Thank you for the uploads, EmptyChild! They were really worth a listen. If you are taking requests, could you possibly make Your Star, Cloud Nine, and ATILF, as well..?
After hearing the original songs for five thousand times, listening to the backing vocals only feels like you're actually getting something new... Haha, it's better than nothing.

As much as I would LOVE to fulfil your requests, the only reason I was able to make these in the first place was because I had the official acapellas. The songs you've requested, don't have one, therefore I cannot isolate the backing vocals, I'm sorry

^Oh, okay. I understand. It's a pity, though. Even though I asked for three songs only, I'd die to hear all the backing vocals on TOD. Actually, I'd love to separately listen to every single vocal layer off it. The album as a whole has so many dimensions that I'll probably never fully realize them all.

Oh I know, I feel the exact same way, I'd love to be able to hear the individual layers. But then I think we're extremely luck to have all the things that we do already have. The demos, the leaks, the multi-tracks. Imagine if we never had any of those.

@rhabarbermarmelade: to be able to hear the vocals, with the instruments and stuff, you can halfway pull out your headphone jack until the main vocals are muted. Though, you would need headphones with two wires going to both speakers and it has to be a two tier jack.

Or you could download Audacity (free) and just use the vocal remover effect, it removes the drums also, but the backing vocals are still there. The only reason I haven't uploaded any done this way is because the sound goes a bit tinny. Also, plenty of people have done the same and uploaded them to YT only to receive negative comments, so I decided against it.

I was going to say this but I wasn't sure if I should since it is copyrighted material. lol. I use Goldwave but that's only because it's easier for me to work. I do use Audacity if I'm trying to do a multiple track kind of thing (like trying to re-create the live string intro to BMTL). PRS used Audacity. XD
