Oh I do think Amy ain't the type o' girl to write about that sort of thing, her loins are much too clean... Though, for all we know she could be quite the sex fiend. I've never thought that was what Lose Control is about, but I'm saying that if that is what the song is about then it's a rather complicated way of expressing it.

I agree with Melt. Amy doesn't seem to be the person to write about sex. It just doesn't fit. But that doesn't mean that we can't interpret the song that way Even if she is that 'sex friend' I don't think she would be keen to let us all know through a song lol. I mean, she never even wants to admit whether or not she had a relationship with Ben. I think it can mean a lot of things. The feeling to let it all go just once while being a real control freak. Or when you are in a relationship with someone who controls you all the time and you are craving to do something the other doesn't know.. But that whole middle eight lyrics of 'If I cut you down..' doesn't make sense to me AT ALL. Apart from the lyrics I really love this song. It used to be a great opener for shows with that haunting piano. Also really love those halfnote slides and the moans and aahs.

I also wonder if maybe the lyrics were written from someone else's perspective sometimes. What if, in this song, Amy is Mary or the lamb? Hehe.... That sounds dumb when put into words, but... It's just very different for her to write a song where she's not a defenseless fluffy herbivore!

I've always thought of this song as revenge, as in sneaking around and messing with someone's head You don't remember my name as in someone hurt her then moved on then she's pretending not to care
I think the line if we play very quiet my lamb Mary never has to know as in she is taking things that are close to that person and tainting with it
If I cut you down to a thing I could use- her referring back to a time the person hurt her and seemed controlling I fear there would be nothing good left of you-as in that person wasnt good to work with
The more and more I think, I believe it may be about Ben as well...he wanted EV to be something different then Amy and left because of their differences...
A while ago on ben's twitter someone wrote something like you should ask Amy to be back in the band she is very forgiving, and he said hahahaha
Maybe there is more conflict than we thought

Yes, the fact that releasing a song about a sexual affair is so unlike Amy is what leads me to believe that the song doesn't have real references to sex, even though the song gives off a sexual vibe because of some lines and all the aahh's and moans, and that's why so many people go for the sexual interpretation. Now, like Melt said, if the lyrics are written from someone else's perspective or about someone else's experience, that'd be a different case. About the song itself, i love everything about it. It's one of my favorite Ev songs ever. The few times they played it live, it sounded very good, very explosive. I also miss the way they used to open the shows with the song's intro. Beautiful and mysterious.

One of my favorite tracks on the album. I wish they'd play it live again. It's perfect for opening a show (they did a few times with TOD tour, because they did at my show), but I love it!

Is there an acapella of this song? I love the vocals in this song. They are so haunting and stunningly beautiful.

^Agreed.
In fact, I've been so busy paying attention to the vocals that I'm just now starting to really appreciate the cool guitar line in the chorus... yet I've had TOD since the very day it came out XD

I would also like an acapella version.

At around two minutes in the song, there is a giggle. It's in the background vocals.

I made an Instrumental of Lose Control using Audacity. It has background vocals too. Enjoy! ;D

I remember when I heard this song for the first time, I loved the way it blew up after this bridge: If I cut you down to a thing I can use I fear there'd be nothing good of youBut I was so disappointed when the song came back down and started fading out. I was like "Is that it? Where'd the rest of the song go?!" I thought it was going to turn into this epic ending. It's one of those songs that builds up but never quite reaches the top, and just leaves you hanging and wanting more. Hmmm... Now that I think about it, it does make sense. I've never really felt anything in that track missing but the song indeed could've been better developed. Vocal-wise, I couldn't agree more with carolexodus! I love the way that song has been recorded by Amy, as well as how it's been mixed afterwards. It's got some badass low vocal parts on the one hand, and higher, soft and lyrical ones on the other hand. Back vocals are as awesome, breathy ones are a cool bonus! Technically, if you were to remove any of the vocals on the final mix, you would've lost half the song. The often change of pace works just fine for the song, and the instrumental is so insanely lascivious, odd and groovy! The guitar line in the chorus is a killer! I love the piano additions to LC, too. But really, all the music elements in that song are just damn haunting... I still get shivers down my spine each time I get to the part where Amy starts to sing: "If I cut you down..." until the track flows back into its heavy mode. Epicness! <3 (By the way, that part also makes me visualize a spiritual séance. There really is something ritual-like about the background music...) I have to agree on the atmosphere, too. TOD is brilliant in that regard, with LC being a great example. As for the lyrics, I personally find them quite confusing and mean, lol. They're interesting in a way that they're unusual for Ev's music. PS: A friend of mine just said that song reminded him both of Emilie Autumn and Elena Siegman if she were not to make country music. Interesting...
