I'm so happy this song is on the Carnival of Madness setlist; it's one of my favorite live Evanescence songs. ;D

On the Fallen version, what is the chanting at the end saying? Is it in Latin?

Servatis a periculum, Servatis a maleficum.
It is Latin. It is not grammatically correct but It's roughly translated to "save us from danger/peril, save us from evil".

I saw this live at the Pittsburgh show and she headbanged like crazy! I loved it! 12/22/12: I started learning how to play this song on piano. It's awesome!!!! Especially the beginning part that's supposed to be on guitar. We definitely need the multi-tracks for this song. I was just listening to the Live in Cologne version on the EF single and I noticed a string part I've never noticed before and made the song that much more epic for me!

In all honesty, I prefer every single song on Fallen over Whisper, yet I still like that one, too. I especially dig the way it sounds live, with that added intro to it. It's very typical of the Fallen era, even nowadays when they perform it live. Its overall vibe is very dark and mysterious, and Amy's high-picthed vocals make me fall in love with her voice over and over again, each time I listen to them... <3 If you add the haunting choir to it (which was, if my memory serves me well, only featured on the intro during the Fallen era,) then you just get the ultimate Ev epicness! Speaking of that choir, I love its parts throughout the entire track. They really add a lot to the overall sound. What I miss in Ev's recent performances of this song is the "Never sleep, never die" part lingering in the back vocals. It always reminds me of true old Ev, back in the old days of Origin even. (That is, by the way, my favourite line of the whole song, too.) I also love the way Whisper builds up during the mid8, later on followed by Amy's tormented vocals and that guitar solo. And then comes the epic ending on the live versions... <3 (The fading vocals of the recorded one, on the other hand, create a feeling of restlessness and eternity.)

On ABH performance of Whisper, the choir was at the beginning (before Amy started her eeeee eeee eeee) and end of the song. In 2003 it was at the beginning too just not Amy doing her "eee eee eee" it was the strings. 2003 pink pop performance I love the strings at 3:41! I just noticed them the other day. ;D When I saw them live in Pittsburgh (8/28/12), the "Never sleep, never die" part lingered.

Aah, that Pinkpop performance! It's still one of my favourites for that song. <3 I personally prefer the versions wherein she actually sings. And as for the lingering choir, lucky you! Not sure how they actually performed in when I saw them live in London, gotta check that out. But if it comes to their encore in the Netherlands, they did it without the choir, I believe.

^PinkPop 2003 is one of my favorite performances of Whisper as well.
Does anyone know the inspiration or story behind why Whisper was written? Is there an interview about the Fallen songs like there was that VH1 interview about the songs for TOD?

Is there a difference between demo v.1 and We the living Vol.3? Never got that.

Is demo 1 the one from the SAEP?
Demo 1: Is 3:52.
WTLV3: Is 4:07 because it has an extended drum outro.
EDIT: Look what someone posted on Facebook. Did anyone know this was even on YouTube?
Are there anymore videos from this performance? Nvm, some are featured on the side.
Edit: I have made a scrutinized/differentiated .pdf of the versions of Whisper. If anyone would like to see it let me know and I'll upload it.

So whats everyone's favorite performance of this song? I'm currently torn between Pinkpop 2007 and Rio 2012.

Pink pop 2007 and Cologne 2003. I haven't seen many 2011/2012 performances.
