As a singer, I have to say a few things... She should have gone for the original key. She sang it a major second lower than Amy does it. I feel that if she had actually challenged herself and gone for the original (and higher) key, that those belted notes would've sounded a lot better and more passionate. She's got a nice voice. I feel that the interpretation of the song was watered down, and the background music (as is the case in all these shows) is usually terrible. I don't know what the theme for this week was, but I didn't see a true rock performance here. There was a fan blowing on her hair. What is a major second? Lol. I am really stupid to all this theory stuff since I've never taken a theory class before. I thought BMTL (original) was in E minor/G major?

It doesn't sound like BMTL is supposed to sound. I can't feel it. I just don't like it. It's a good promotion though.

I wonder, why did she choose to sing BMTL on classic rock night? Maybe I'm getting old ( ), but the song's only ten years old. As for the performance itself, I didn't like it. She lacked emotion throughout the whole performance.
Also, why do they have two drummers? Haha...

Also, I'm a member of a forum called radiodiscussions.com that includes many people in the radio industry and many of them over there consider a classic hit to be any hit from 1964-2003, although most Classic Hit and Classic Rock stations mostly focus on 70's and 80's music with a little bit that is older or newer.

She lacks emotion in her performances when she sang BMTL. Because we know that putting emotions to the song can touch someone's feelings. She lacks emotions.

Only good thing about this performance is that it made me realize Amy should use a fan on stage.

The fact that it is already 10 years old, makes me feel like I'm having gray hair everywhere I still remember seeing BMTL for the first time back in 2003.
When it comes to people covering Ev I'm the most critical person on earth. It happens very rarely that I do like an Evcover, and in most cases it's something instrumental. Amy's voice is a pretty high standard. Ow well, the performance itself, wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. The beginning was ok, but by the fact that she sang it way lower, the fact was quite unimpressive. And yeah, it greatly lacks emotion throughout the whole thing, that's my biggest pet peeve with the performance. But I'm always happy when people use Evsongs in shows like these, so kudos to Miller! (Wish that they wouldn't sing BMTL or MI all the time, but yeah, that's almost unavoidable )
BTW, sometimes it was like Miley Cyrus singing.

I think the studio version is alright - lots of positives to it and she does have an interesting interpretation and voice. The live performance? Not so much.

I'm so picky about Ev covers. There is maybe one on Youtube that I like. Amy's emotions and vocals can't be imitated, and I love the songs exactly how they are, so I'm biased. I didn't like Angie's performance one bit. I did like that Randy complimented Evanescence, however, and that they recognize what a great band they are. I remember he interviewed Amy for something ages ago.

I really dislike how she's holding out some of the notes, like "sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeping some where cooooooooooooooooold" she almost stumbles on the words after, and it bugs me.
but yeah, it's probably a good thing that she actually tried to sing the song in a different way and make it her own.

I though she did alright, I definitely didn't think she bad. At least she didn't try to imitate Amy's voice. I think I laughed more at Mariah Carey's comment about the piano. I don't think Ms. Mariah is all that familiar with the song. LOL

I hated her performance...She showed no emotion....The studio version is better.

I'm Amelia. I'm seventeen years old and I have never watched a single American Idol performance in my life. Until now. And, the Evanescence addict that I am found it, well...um...
Like some others said the beginning was well done, but when it came to the chorus and onward, it sounded more pop than Gothic rock that the song is meant to be. And I did NOT like her voice. So I didn't know who any of the judges were aside from Mariah Carey, but I liked the last bloke who mentioned that she (and people in general), when they cover a song they should choose it because they feel it, and the emotion pours into the performance. Songs like BMTL and My Immortal are so jaded by covers, and no one can quite get the pitch. Evanescence has so many deep, beautiful emotional songs to choose from, and if someone is feeling the song I think it will show in their performance of it. Bleh. People, y u no stop covering mainstream songs and start covering songs u feel? D:

D: You're absolutely right, she could have chosen another Evanescence song. There are way to many covers of BMTL and My Immortal..what about the other amazing Evanescence songs . (I've never watched the show so I don't know how she sings other songs, but I know that her voice wasn't good for this one) And because the song didn't fit her voice the band had to play D minor instead of E minor and that made the cover even worse .
