I think it'd be cool if Amy did a solo release with piano/harp ballads, electronic/trip hop and the folky stuff she talked about before. She can play acoustic guitar, can't she? I'd love to hear her do that on an album and see her do it live.

I'm sure it would have been more appropriate to post this is the already existing thread, Evanescence vs. Amy Lee Solo Career, that you had created.Moved to the appropriate thread.
I hate how everyone says Amy is "screaming" when she is clearly singing the notes loud; belting, a form of singing that is often used to convey high emotions. Amy belted on TOD in songs that were quiet and didn't have loud guitars. Particularly "I'm not buying 'baby'" in TLSIWOY, the "Safe in the dark, how can you see/Still in the dark, can you fix me" and the chorus in WOTW, the beginning of CMWYS, the verses, the chorus, etc... Lithium, etc...

I think everyone is talking about the notes like "Give us a reeeeeeeasonnnnnn to beeeeeeeeeliiiiiiieve again" - in new way to bleed, "Alllllllllll gonnnnnnnneeee, the oooooooonly world I've ever knooooooooown" - in never go back, "Sayyyyyy you wiiiilll or sayyyyyyy you wonnnt" - in say you will. Amy "belts" to hit these notes that aren't particularly attractive and EV3 has SOOO many moments where Amy is belting. TOD proved that you don't need a lot of high-pitched wailing with sustained notes to sound like you're in a metal band. I hope they bring back the softer more classy side of Evanescence when they decide to make a new album.

I guess people just don't understand emotion and the way it can affect people.

The belting itself isn't bad, but too much of it can be tiring for the ears, especially combined with a lot of loud music. I think there was overall too much loudness on Ev3, both in the vocals and music. I think it needed more softer moments mixed in to balance things out and to give the ears a rest.

^ yeah I have to agree, I mean Amy's voice is so beautiful in mild songs but it sometimes is tiring for ears in those guitar-dominating songs, it feels like guitars and Amy's voice fight over something and it can spoil the song (like in Oceans - it starts good but at the end of the song I am always willing to skip to the next one)... but IMO Ev3 is still the best

Agreed. Once I decided to listen to Ev3 in order and I simply had to stop after Lost In Paradise because my ears were so tired of the belting. Funnily enough I don't have this problem with Fallen or The Open Door.... Honestly, at this point I think I would really like to have a solo Amy Lee album more. Not to say that I wouldn't want an Ev4 or anything. Evanescence is my favorite band after all.

Say You Will sucks. But I love the rest of Ev3. And I don't give a damn if she releases Ev stuff or goes solo. I just want her to release something and stop being so damn lazy. After that I can judge wether I like it or not.

I wish it wouldn't take so long for new music either. But I imagine it must be very tiring going on these lengthy worldwide tours, so I can see why she likes taking long breaks. I know she's mentioned that she's not even that big on touring, which is why I wish they'd take it easier on that front. Not cram so many shows into such short periods of time, take more breaks during touring, more downtime between concerts, etc. I think it'd really help Amy to not get so tired of touring and feel like she needs such long breaks afterwards. And I've said before that if she did a solo album, I don't think she'd even need to tour for it. Maybe just a few shows here and there. I think it'd be a good thing for her.

It depends on Amy's decision. If Amy chooses to release a solo album, I will support it and probably like it. I think Amy has a lot of free time to do her solo album so that makes sense that the solo album of Amy Lee has a lot of possibility to come true. The band is not yet ready for the 4th Evanescence album so its recording might happen a long time from now.

So I definitely agree and see where you're coming from. We'd have something too if it weren't for Wind-Up not funding the release of the solo Lillywhite material and deciding FOR US and FOR AMY what we her fans want and what she can release. I mean that Twitvid Fireplace piano piece she wrote after the tour was amazing. I just hope we get to hear it on an album in the future, and not drowned out.
