Wait, we didn't have a thread for the Mystary EP? Whoa. Now I feel kinda dumb. I'd just like to announce that the Mystary version of My Immortal is my favourite. I think I remember reading somewhere that this version of MI was originally supposed to be the version on Fallen but Wind-Up wanted them to use the Origin version instead, which makes no sense to me. Why reuse an old recording when you have a pretty new one already lined up?

My theory as to why they wanted to use the Origin version is, according to Pete Mathews (I think) from the unofficial documentary "After Midnight", he said that was the song he presented to Wind-Up and it was the one that made one of the Wind-Up agents want to see this unique band. ^info was screencapped from EvRef.

Mystary EP Released on: January 13th, 2003 Released by: Wind-Up Entertainment Released amount: 50 copies ( ??) Tracklist: 1. My Last Breath- (4:09) 2. My Immortal (Mystary Version)- (4:41) 3. Farther Away- (4:02) 4. Everybody's Fool - (3:17) 5. Imaginary (Mystary Version)- (4:17) Listen to the ENTIRE EP: Some Things To Think About/Debate Over: -Sound wise, this EP isn't bad at all: My Immortal and My Last Breath have NO blips, swooshes, skips, or weird noises on them. Everybody's Fool, Imaginary, and Farther Away each have one skip at (0:01). The idea that it is "notable is the fact that Farther Away has digital blips on it as a result of an error during the burning of the disc," as per the EvReference, is strange, since my version doesn't have bleeps throughout. Nor does the version hosted at EvReference have ANY (not even my skip) either. So I am unsure where this observation came from, since it is not present in either version of Farther Away (mine or the one hosted on EvReference). SOURCE-Does anyone know how many of this EP were produced? I heard 50 at one point, but I haven't been able to get a concrete evidence of that fact. -This EP was sold at Juanita's for $5. The EvReference is incorrect when they state this was sold on the 14th of Jan. 2003, since Evanescence played on the 13th (their set list being EID, MI, Whisper, Imaginary (v2 + Fallen), and Orestes - not in that order, mind you). Ben sold this at a merchandise table which said "Mystary CD -- $5." -Note that this IS NOT CALLED MYSTERY. Ben, being weird (not surprising ) called put an "a" where the "e" should be. Despite the weirdness, that is what the EP is called. Many people got this wrong, especially on the early 2003 - 2004 discographies or .mp3 lists. -Ben is claimed to have said that this EP was a kind of "Fallen Sampler." One has to wonder whether or not Farther Away, a future Fallen B-Side, was at this time included in Fallen's line-up or not. If, we assume, Farther Away was (by Jan.) still going to be apart of Fallen, then its exclusion must have been a relatively quick decision (whatever that decision may be - see "Farther Away" topic). Note that EvLore has it that this EP was released BEFORE the Fallen Promo, but currently myself and DoubleA are discussing this. -This EP is notable, since it has two different (than Fallen . . . maybe?) versions of My Immortal and Imaginary on it. See the "My Immortal," and "Imaginary," topic for commentary on the Mystary versions of those songs. This EP, presumably, did not come with a tracklisting, right? So how do we even know that the Imaginary on here was a "Mystary Edit" to begin with in the first place? THANKS to James J James for the videos!
