I'm male, and have a rather deep voice, so I normally sing each Ev song an octave lower. Snow White Queen, Going Under, and The Only One are my biggest challenges because the low notes are too low for me. Haunted is hard as well... I tend to look at it (as a male singer myself) as not actually singing an octave lower. It is an octave lower, but because my voice is naturally going to be an octave lower for no reason other than being male, to me it's still singing the exact same note, but in a man's voice. It's just more convenient that way for me, heh... And is also how my old chorus teachers went about it. Anyway! As a male, I have the same problem! The notes aren't too high, they're too low! That sounds ridiculous when talking about an Ev song, but SWQ, GU, and TOO all give me problems too for being too low. Lithium and Like You as well if my voice isn't in good condition, but I always sing those in a higher key than the original. Does anyone else change the key of the songs? I usually try to change the song to whatever fits my voice best... So... I do every song up a half-step, but certain nones (TOS, MHiB, Oceans) I bump it up a whole.

Usually I play My Immortal and Bring Me to Life down a couple of steps even though I can sing them because I get self-conscious when my voice gets that high and if I haven't properly warmed my voice up I can strain it. To be completely honest, though, I haven't really learned many Evanescence songs because I've been daunted by the vocals. I know some of the piano to Lithium, most of Good Enough, I haven't had the opportunity to learn LiP yet and I don't usually have any problems with Hello or Breathe No More.

Oooh! Breathe No More is so effin' fun to sing. I don't even know why... It just is. I usually do it and My Immortal up more than any others, I think I transpose them from C (this is how my keyboard works, not the actual key of the song) to D#... BNM is the first song I ever learned to play on piano (or was it Hello... I can't remember... One of those two) seven years ago, so it's become quite relaxing to sing, actually. I try to do all these piano-acrobatics with the newer songs (Erase This and Oceans are killing my hands in this department, hehehe....) so when I do Breathe No More it's nice to concentrate on nothing but the vocals since playing it for seven years has made it second nature to me.

Surprisingly, Going Under. I don't know why, but I just can't get it to sound right. And sometimes The Only One. Those high notes, ack! And the verses of Snow White Queen are sometimes tough, if I don't concentrate hard enough on hitting the notes.

I have like the worst vocal range ever. I don't have to strain when it comes to low notes, It's pretty natural to me, but I don't go really far neither. However I feel like I am more comfortable than Amy in this area. Head voice I can go really high. The high notes of WOTW and Whisper, no problem. Swimming Home is fun to sing too.
But I can't belt passed F5...at all. It sounds strained, I actually have to really warm up if I want it to sound better. And for some reason, It's like all the pop songs and all Evanescence songs have to reach the notes after A6 ngh. That "I can smell you" part in Haunted...im-po-ssi-ble.
EDIT: So to answer the initial question I would say any song really, but mostly those from the third album.

My main issue is I can't belt, like, at all. Fallen isn't /too/ bad mostly because the belty parts sound okay in a head voice. The Open Door isn't too bad either (other than the high parts in Sweet Sacrifice *shudders*). Ev3 is almost impossible. The range is ok but unlike Fallen, the songs NEED to be belted to sound good (at least to me).

I haven't really heard Amy belt anything past an F# though. She always switches into a mix or head voice when she goes higher than that. In the "I can smell you" part she only goes up to a C though. The range is ok but unlike Fallen, the songs NEED to be belted to sound good (at least to me). Everybody can physically belt. It's just something that you need to practice like everything else. I think for me, getting over the fear of being loud was a big issue. Try belting when nobody is home and don't hold back. I'm sure you'll discover a lot of abilities in your voice.

I /have/ been trying to practice, mostly in my car and mostly to Defying Gravity and I have noticed some improvement. But I'm still lightyears from being good.

I'm european so it makes me all confused, don't even know if I'm right this time XD For example, Breathe no More I think goes to A5, B5, all the time. "Lie to me" begins with B5 I think and I can't get it. But I'm sure she belts that note.

I think Never Go Back is probably the hardest one for me. Amy's voice is right in my vocal range so it's not too much of a struggle really. The only note I can't seem to reach anymore is the really high "Ahh" in Weight of the World. I usually have to drop that one an octave.

ladychaos Have you tried modifying the vowel or trying it on any other vowel??? Yep. It's weird, none of the other high notes give me problems, just that one....I keep trying different things so maybe something will work. I used to be able to get it, but ever since I had my son I haven't been able to.

The vocal folds are so sensitive to hormonal changes.
