Amy: "I'm sure 'Evanescence' is our best album"

I'm starting to get suspicious ... It just seems like she is dodging a LOT of questions lately:

What's next? I don't know. I don't wanna plan things etc etc
Solo album? Ev album? I don't know etc etc (Being their strongest line up, you would think they would keep it going, especially if they are happy about working together.
How about the LIP video? We're concentrating on touring right now. (yes, but that's not really the question)
Have you thought about covering some songs? Yeah, ... you know, a bunch of songs ... (examples? You're killing me over here)

It's probably why I've lost interest following their interviews. Nothing new, a whole bunch of junk.

I agree with folks that have said TOD and Fallen were better albums. I guess maybe she feels like she has to root for the third album because it's the one not tied to any bitterness and quarrelling with other members.

That being said, i still love her ...

Well, She always says that whatever she or Evanescence is doing hast to be the best thing ever made, otherwise she wouldn't do it. And I did like the album, it wasn't a disapointment to me. However, it was not drama free. remember that they had to rework the entire album because their original idea was rejected.

You guys are always doing the most with interviews. She's always avoided questions that have to do with future plans, releases or internal issues. I can guarantee you will not find a single interview where she doesn't avoid at least one question. It's nothing new, we should be used to this by now.

with any creative thing the last thing you do is always the better thing because it represents and reflects the place and position that your currently in. Emotionally, physically mentally... what ever.

Its going to be the best because in the opinion of the creator because it was created after gaining years of experience.

With Amy avoiding questions... well i would like to think that its probably because she truly doesn't know what she's going to do.. (which she has said)
It sounds like to me she has lots of ideas of what she wants to do and plans to do them all eventually but, she cant say specifically what will be next.

Because lets face it things happen in life that change your plans, directions thoughts all the time. Im sure you guys know what i'm talking about.

so i think Amy's just not talking about her specific plans because simply.. plans change, she doesn't want to put our hopes up because things never turn out how you want them to, a good and bad thing.
Especially in music, you have one idea in your head and you try to play it but it doesn't turn out the way you planed or it doesn't have the right affect you were after.

Fallen is still my favorite and I don't think Evanescence will ever replace it.

I agree with you guys, to me TOD is their best album, but of course this is just personal taste.
I think EV3 is better than Fallen by a long shot, though.

I think she always says something among the lines of "this is our best record" or "this is our most mature record", etc every time the band comes up with something new.
That's sort of to be expected.

Besides, she probably feels something special towards this record since it's the first time in years that she's completely happy with her bandmates. that's probably a reason. And she's also happy in her personal life with Josh.

I agree with what you said about avoiding the talk about future plans, since plans can change and she probably doesn't want to disappoint anybody.
But i can't come up with a reason why she isn't able of mentioning a couple of songs she'd like to cover if she ever had the chance. Or atleast a couple of bands. It's not like she has to promise anything. It's an hypothetical case anyway.

I'm going to assume she's a bit tired of interviews at this point.

I've always believed Amy hates being interviewed. Actually, who could enjoy being asked tons of questions every week, questions about your past and questions you have already answered a thousand times? She's just gonna say a couple of lines, vaguely answering the question or avoiding topics she doesn't feel like talking about. Also, I've always believed Amy's a little bit sluggish or disinterested when answering questions haha. It's not even about if she does feel the latest album is the best. What kind of publicity and image would she be giving the band saying something like "Oh yeah Ev3 is alright but TOD slays it". You REALLY think saying that is a good idea?

About which album is best, to me TOD and Ev3 are in the same line of quality, just in different spectrum. And I'm about to offend a bunch of people here, but saying that Fallen is better than Ev3 or TOD in ANY way is just redonk. I get why many of you would PREFER it, as it may hold some emotional value and meaning to you, but saying that it's the better of the 3 musically and artistically is just delusion or plain ignorance.

I agree with the first part. They have a tour to promote! If she does believe it's the best album, that's actually a good thing. An artist is not going to put out work they don't believe is their best, unless they're driven by money, which Amy is not. There isn't much of a point in making the album unless it's better and you've grown as a musician and have more ideas to create.

However, music taste is subjective and only an opinion. In my opinion, Fallen is artistically miles ahead of self-titled just because I feel it's more unique and creative while self-titled is more of a basic rock album. I love the third album too! It's amazing. I'm just saying we all have our preferences and someone isn't ignorant because they find an album more creative and simply better.

Yeah, she's kind of obligated to say she thinks this is the best album. And while I'm sure she loves and is proud of it, I've always gotten the feeling that its not exactly what she wanted and there was a lot of compromising. I feel like she still maybe cherishes TOD a little more since I think she had a lot more personal growth and creative freedom on it. Just my personal thoughts.

No, I believe her 100% when she says this is the best she's done. I can tell she really believes that not only in interviews but also performing live.
