So, finally released in my country! The song ROCKS as a band work, the guitars and drums are LOUD! However, it seems to me it lacks some inspirations -sorry for that-. And my BIGGEST complaint -once again- what's wrong with the mixing of the songs lately? Try to focus on the after guitar solo bridge part: to me it sounds like a total mess... Loved it but...

Perhaps it's Nick's production? This is what I feared when news broke he would work on the first batch of songs. Ev3 is a mess to me when it comes to the mixing. Even though I wrote below that the song's melody is lacking sonething in my opinion, it doesn't change the fact that this song is a masterpiece. I love how it's built and arranged, I think the song has multiple dimensions. And the band sounds so good together! It warms my heart to see the people who were sceptical with WoY saying this song is everything they could have asked. So Evanescence is not ruined after all anyway I would like to hear what are you folks' favourite parts of the song? I love the very beginning with badass drums and bassline, and also the epic backing vocals with "there's only one". I also feel something is lacking in the song, maybe because we always expect more effects/programming/keyboards/strings on Ev songs? And now they're going in for this new "raw sound", which is strange at first. The song may grow on me after a few listens. It somehow takes me back to 2000. Haha.

It reminds of the progression between Fallen and TOD. I somewhat agree with the mixing as I can't quite hear some of it compared to how clear WOY is. I think people need to stop being so negative. I have noticed this throughout the years ever since after Fallen. The song reminds me and has a Michael Jackson and Within Temptation feel. At times it reminds me of WATF. Like this is the sound that could've been if Ev taken a more heavier direction with Fallen. I felt like TOD should've been out now in this time period. I wonder what the music video will be like and I feel this will be better received than WOY. It's the classic EV sound everyone's been missing. Anyone notice the breaths/panting sounds in the second verse on the right side and then the synths on the left side. Very intriguing. Also I wish there were strings on both songs. Don't get me wrong. I love both songs but part of me is curious to hear how they both would sound like with strings.

Just had a listen and there is something so raw and old-school about it and I love that! Definitely a track that could have been on TOD and I love that it takes me back to that era.

I like it But I wish Amy wasn't using her belting range all the way through. I think some lows on the main vocals would have sounded fantastic.

IMO there's times were I think she should've belted slightly more during the chorus. Link to the music video - youtu.be/jJEZgUjjZqM

Definitely a heavy hitter! My only "complaint" is, like many people had an issue with on Ev3, the instrumentals are mix too loud imo and it's hard to hear/focus on the vocals.

I do like the mixing better in the HQ version I have on Spotify, it's already way better than the pirate version but I agree it can feel a bit 'oppressive' (for lack of a better word) First comments from Amy on the song btw, from Rolling Stone: "This song is about being sick of the facade. The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around,” Lee said in a statement. “‘The Game is Over’ is a promise to myself and out loud that I’m going to be more of my real, inner self on the outside — not lock her up because she can’t be contained anymore. It’s also a prayer to become better, to not feel so messed up, locked up, and hurt inside.” Link: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/evanescence-the-game-is-over-1022021/amp/
