Here you go: What Amy said about Breathe No More in a nutshell: "I wrote the song when I was in quite a dark place, I was in a toxic relationship that was destroying me, the song is really about how sometimes when you're in a toxic relationship you change yourself for the other person, but you start to hate yourself for it, you look in the mirror and hate the person you've become, that self loathing is one of the worst feelings in the world, because you just want the other person in the relationship to be happy but at the same time you don't want to lose yourself, the real you"

I first listened to Breathe No More when they played it in Athens 9 years ago and fell in love with it from the very first notes.
This part has always troubled me though. Have no idea what Amy is trying to say:
Take a breath and I try to draw from my spirit's well Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child

Such a beautiful song... It took me years to get some certain parts of the lyrics, yet they still touch me so deeply each and every time. Even when I'm not in the worst of moods, they still mean a lot to me. "Lie to me, convince me that I've been sick forever" = Priceless! <3 The entire bleed/breathe theme is also very powerful and poetic, I can indeed relate to it. It's exactly how I feel at times while being pretty upset. Amy's voice on the song is, needless to say, as emotional, powerful and beautiful as always. Accompanied by the piano, it makes for one of those amazing piano-based Ev songs. On top of that, ABH's version is much better than the earlier demos.

That's very interesting. It's about the surface and about being still hide under it although you're trying to say who you really are... partly I feel it's maybe about her "being a woman" too - and the "well" there is used in the meaning of "source" of her spirit, which can be also the same dark pit of feels called "depression". It makes sense.... somehow? Does it? Or not? I like this part a lot too because it shows the misunderstanding: "Lie to me, convince me that I've been sick forever and all of this will make sense when I get better."

-Breathe No More is a Fallen B-Side, and was only included in the Elektra Soundtrack (although it wasn't in the actual movie) on 01/11/05. Is the Fallen B-Side version the same with the Elektra OST version?

Is the Fallen B-Side version the same with the Elektra OST version? Yes. There are only two studio versions of BNM; the 2001-2002 Demo version and the Fallen b-side version, and the various live versions; such as the one on ABH. You can go to my thread Full song and Discography List for more information. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

When I first discovered this song, I listened to it a lot, but I generally don't listen to it very much compared to Ev's other music. I happened to listen to it the other day, and I realized that it's in a very comfy part of my vocal range. I was really excited because there are quite a few Evanescence songs that I don't think I sound that great on, so now I sing this quite a bit. I really love the lyrics; it's a really beautiful, heartbreaking song that I don't always appreciate as much as I probably should.

I love this song. I write music and one thing that always inspired me was Amy's ability to take a very dark relationship and create a beautiful song from it. She is beautiful from the inside out, and no matter what she goes through, you can hear that.
