^ What a fun Evadventure! A year ago I rushed to the music store after school, searched for the CD and found none, the people there said they hadn't received any copy of Ev3. I was like, "What a pity!" A month later, I was having lunch with my big family at a restaurant when I suddenly realized there was a music store in front of the restaurant. I was like, "Maybe I can find Ev3 there!" then I went out of the restaurant, entered the music store and asked my brother to search for Ev3. He found Ev3 in the "New Arrival" section. I thanked him for that and... finally bought the album!
A few months ago, I went to the supermarket with my cousins. In the supermarket, I went to the CD/DVD section. Ev3 was placed in the "Best Seller" section =]

OMG three points for Sick, why D: Is that directed at me? Heh... Because I weigh originality more than most things when analyzing music. If a song isn't very creative, then it has to be either ridiculously catchy, emotionally satisfying, or lyrically brilliant... Sick is none of those things. Sick is "nice". Sick makes a statement, that's what Sick is about... But it's a statement without a unique perspective... It's just words. Oh, okay. I can see your point. I usually listen to Sick when I'm angry, and it only seems to be good for that anyways. Not my favorite, but it's great live. I feel like I'll offend someone if I outright diss an Ev song.

That last paragraph is really spot on. You need some karma points for that. Thank you! Omg yes, I also can't believe that it's been a year already! I recall that I ran to the local shop, bought my Standard Edition, and looked in several other shops for the Deluxe one. The sellers already knew me when they saw me and were like 'NO WE DON'T HAVE IT!'

It's a cool, great record, but I'm kinda tired of all that "we know each other very well. It's a band-driven record, blah blah blah". She's been saying the same thing on the interviews... I just think Wind-Up messed it up, as always.

It's weird knowing that this era is going to be over in like a week with these last UK shows. I'm left feeling...disappointed. :/ Hate to say it, but looking back, this era has seemed kind of uneventful and forgettable. I feel like too few exciting things happened and that we got most of them all lumped into the very beginning of the era. Only 2 music videos (the last being in freaking January), only 1 successful single that had its peak about a year ago, there weren't really any cool photoshoots throughout the era, or many tv appearances or magazines and such. I know there were cool things, some of which really excited me, but I'm left with this overall unsatisfied feeling. I'm not sure if it's just me or if this era really just wasn't as exciting. I remember feeling really enthusiastic in the beginning, but I feel like it waned pretty quickly. I'm wondering if it partly had to do with the album itself being slightly disappointing to me and thus not able to hold my full enthusiasm through a less eventful era. I mean, I think the album is great, but I had hoped for a lot more and found that I stopped listening to it way sooner than I had with previous ones. Though I also felt less enthusiasm from the fanbase as a whole too. I remember in early summer I was really trying to push making "TOS" a successful single, and I truly believed it would get there with the support of the fans, but I felt like hardly anyone put effort into it. Maybe Wind-Up was to blame for messing up the promotion of the album and singles or maybe it was a lack of enthusiasm from the fanbase, or both; I'm really not sure. But yeah, overall, I just can't help but feel like this era was a bit of an unexciting mess. It's kinda depressing for me to see it end this way.

I think the lack of promotion for the band (such as photoshoots, music videos, magazine articles, etc.) had a domino effect on the fanbase. Even I at some point felt like I had no more passion for the band. I don't want Evanescence to disband or anything, but something needs to change, because you're right - the result can be seen in the fanbase. Getting rid of the official EvThreads did not help their case AT ALL.

This might make me sound like a boob, but I've noticed a quite a few people (in reviews and in general) not knowing what instrument is playing at the beginning of Made of Stone and thought I'd point it out... 'cause it's one of my favorite instruments. It's a vibraphone, which is a percussive instrument in the family of the marimba or xylophone... But it's one of the most common sounds on an electric keyboard (which is what Amy used for it, no doubt) where it's just called 'vibes'. It's probably much more common to hear/see it played on a keyboard than to see someone actually using a vibraphone but... That's what it is! ;D

Wind-Up just sucked in its promotion... EMI Brazil released the record one month later from its original release!!!

I figured it wasn't piano because the resonance on the notes were too unpiano-ish, so I just shrugged it off as an effect on the piano! lol. Then I tried the Vibraphone option on my keyboard and it still didn't would like it to me! lol. Then I read your post... Let me go try it again! *runs to her room to play piano/vibraphone* Wow... Played it and I can't believe I've never realized that until you said something. lol. Thank you! ;D

I keep getting EotD and Sick mixed up on the track listing, even after all this time. I guess I feel EotD goes way better after LiP than Sick.

I just think Wind-Up messed it up, as always. Most likely the label did. I was expecting Ev3 to have more songs such as "Swimming Home" and "Oceans" with a few hard rock songs that related to the ocean like "Never Go Back." I was disappointed to hear a lot of the songs (Sick, WYW, TOS, etc.) to be barebones generic rock that didn't fit the theme of the album at all, and aired on the side of caution rather than expressing Amy's creative vision for the original album idea as electronic and experimental. The SAME thing occurred with Christina Aguilera's album "Bionic" which coincidentially was also an experimental electro album that her label forced her to change around and put more commercial tracks on (just as Ev seemed forced to add generic rock) which diluted both albums! In both cases we have glimpses of what the original albums would have sounded like, thankfully.

^Well thye were forced. The label wanted something different than the 2009 sessions with Lillywhite. Terry said so in an interview. Though I have a feeling that it was a mutual decision among Amy and the label.
