I really love the clock/ticking sound in this song. I heard it as an old wooden ship creaking

OMG I LOVE THIS SONG. Interesting how Amy's voice is lighter sounding in the verses - it's very delicate-sounding and pretty. And the electronic stuff, especially in the second verse, is so cool and swoon-worthy. I've been listening to this on repeat quite a bit. Listening to this song and the Broken Record snippets we have make me wish we got what Ev3 was intended to be more than ever.

I love the lighter tones in her voice during the verses, it's not really something we've heard and it's great

Hi-Lo is one of my favourite Evanescence songs EVER.
This song is so heartbreaking and beautiful. So much so that when I first heard it live a couple of times it brought up some unwanted memories and feelings so I had to leave the song for a few days. I love how Amy sings this so delicately and quietly, it ads pain to the voice and really hits the emotions. I learned to distance myself from the lyrics (as lovely as they are) and now I can enjoy this song almost to the max.
The bridge is of course incredible, as has been said before. I really love the moment towards the end of the bridge when Amy and Lindsey are both playing the piano and violin quickly and it's just a dream come true.
And I love how this song has so many layers (like Ev songs usually do) and you notice new things every time you listen. Goes for all Ev songs really, and it's one of the main songs why I love them so much.

Probably cliche but this song kind if makes me think of my ex (my son's dad). Not in a way that I am hurt. I'm so far removed from all of that because my life is so much better now. So is my son's, to be honest.
But some of the lyrics:
"The more I stood still, the faster you were running" It's like he initiated the relationship, took me far away, then ran away.
"There's nothing left to give you, nothing more I need" Realizing that despite everything that happened, God ment for my son son the be on this earth. So that was the whole point of our relationship.
"I gave up on you, but I never forgot you" Pretty self explainitory. Never gonna be with him again, but I'll never forget him because he is the father to my son.

The more I read the lyrics and listen to them and visualize a video for this, the more positive I become that this is about Ben but not in a negative or angry way, like Going Under or The Last Song I'm Wasting on You. I think it's more of an acceptance and "I've moved on".
But I could feel you erasing the rivers I'd drawn in | Remember Amy would always say Ben would shoot down her ideas and such? You don't know how it feels crawling under your skin | Her living in his shadow because he would shoot down her ideas and being afraid to throw stuff out there. Don't you know we could be
High or Low, you never fell beneath me And I gave up on you, but I never forgot you | The good and the bad times. Ben never fell beneath her because they are equals. Amy gave up on him but never forgot about him.
And the second verse, I don't think I really need to explain that. The words are RIGHT there.
Anyway, this is just my thought in my tired state. The song could be about something completely different or maybe even through Ben's perspective or both of there's. Who knows? lol.
Just my two cents. What do you all think?

So Lindsay's solo is incredible. I can't help but wonder what if/wish that Amy had asked Emilie Autumn to do it instead because she's one of my other favourite musicians. (And another violin master).

There's this one in which it was mentioned but not explicitly spoken of. That would be awesome but no offense, I feel like Emilie would shoot her down because Amy/Ev is too "mainstream". Plus as much as I love Emilie she doesn't seem the type to take a "backseat" to anyone else anymore. You don't know how it feels crawling under your skin |Her living in his shadow because he would shoot down her ideas and being afraid to throw stuff out there. I feel maybe she is talking about having to perform songs that she didn't feel connected to, like MI seeing as how it was about Ben's grandfather etc. Like she felt she had to "crawl into his skin" to express his feelings and not being able to express her own as much.

I've never seen Amy speak so openly. I love the band and Amy, but I've always chosen never to read too deeply into their personal lives
