Please don't kill me for thie thread. And no, I'm not about to do a Vs. question haha But, I realize that Taylor follows Amy on Instagram and most likely on twitter as well. But Amy doesn't follow her back. Do you guys know anything about their relationship? I mean, I don't expect them to be bff, but TPR was the opening act for Ev, so I guess they should at least talk, right? And Taylor did say she was an Ev fan (Although that was basically the question and no one would say they don't don't link the band they are opening to, but still) And my question is bc I mean, not following someoneyou know on social media nowadays is like saying you don't like that person very much.

I think you might be reading too much into something that isn't really there.

I agree with Dan, not following someone on social media doesn't indicate that a person doesn't like someone especially if someone doesn't spend much time on social media (like Amy). So there's almost no point in following a whole bunch of people if you won't be able to see (most of) their tweets/posts - for all you know they talk to each other in real life.
However, Amy does follow Taylor M on twitter.

Or maybe Amy just isn't an internet-obsessed person who spends all her free time online scrolling through a never ending stream of tweets, Facebook posts and Instagram photos. As a person of this rare breed she doesn't care about the followback rule or any lame internet rules for that matter. She follows people whose posts she's genuinely interested in, not everyone she knows. It saves time and makes her feed enjoyable.

Amy is not such person. I'm sure of it and I'm sure there's not anything bad between them. I remember those days when they were touring together. they both admired each other on social media and interviews.

Yeah, you guys are probably right and it's really nothing. I just thought of it bc idk, internet is used to make statements all the time nowadays. For example my ex friend blocked me and all of my friends when she got mad at us and I realized my boyfriend was breaking up with me when he erased all of our pics together. But idk, maybe is not something everybody does 😶😶😶

Yeah, I only found out about the 'followback' rule on Twitter etc. fairly recently. Someone apparently followed me and then gave me grief about not following them back. Firstly, I had no idea they were 'following' me because I rarely look at who 'follows' me on there (granted, I have nothing interesting to say and I'm not a particularly interesting person), and secondly, they had nothing I was particularly interested in, so when I found this out, I didn't bother. People with public profiles on this kind of thing can be viewed without being 'followed' anyway, if people are particularly interested. That, and as people have mentioned, you can speak to people in private without making conversations public, and Amy's a very private person on the whole. I do think that a lot of people take social media a little too seriously and personally at times, many of us are guilty of that from time to time.

Funny thing is, once you follow them back they'll instantly unfollow you. They are only using you to fluff their follower count.

I think this follow back rule is only valid when you know the other person or likes the content of their social media. Other than that, I see no point. I mean, they WILL unfollow you and tou feed will be full with a lot of things you are not interested in.

My following count sits where it's at simply because I do activist work online. If someone doesn't follow me back, or vice versa, it's usually not personal. And if it is, there's always the block button.
