Hi. EvThreads has always been about accepting of people of all backgrounds. Today we've made a step continuing in that.
I added a new profile field in the Personal section of your Profile Settings. It is the last option on that page(I unfortunately cannot get it to show higher in the list. I tried.). You can enter your gender identity without restriction. All this is optional. You can leave the new gender field blank and it will not display in your profile or mini-profile in posts.
Unfortunately whenever a user signs up to ProBoards they have to pick a gender. But you do not have to display it. Simply go into the Privacy section of your Profile settings and pick no in the Gender Visibility section. This will remove the little gender image in your mini-profile next to posts. I would not recommend leaving both gender fields displaying. So if you're choosing to share a gender identity that is different than the default options I would hide the default gender.
In case you are confused (and I know this seems obvious but still). Gender Identity is not the same as sexual orientation. You are not being asked to enter whether you are gay or bisexual or straight.
Please do not abuse it by entering nonsense. Gender identities are not a joke. We are accepting of others no matter their gender identity or lack of. Please do not harass others because of the gender identity they chose to display.
This is 100% optional. You do not have to share this info. It is your decision to share this.

Great news!  I always find it strange that so many forums etc. don't do this. (is it bad that I'd only just noticed there was a gender option? I think I've been a mysterious unknown gender since the very beginning  ) |
