Does anybody else find the way Amy sings 'then' and 'last' in the second verse really weird? It sounds like she says 'far' instead of 'then' and then a posh, English version of 'last'. Bizarre.

Can't say that I noticed before, but now that you mention it...I hear what you're saying.

It's like that throughout the song. She does that on some of words in this song. However, I don't hear what you're talking about on the words you've mentioned.

I don't hear 'far' instead of 'then', but I kind of think I know what you mean by the word 'last'. She sings the 'a' shorter than she typically would, which I guess you could say sounds slightly English (like the way there are different pronunciations of the word 'castle', one saying 'cassle' while the other says 'cahsle'). I think she's singing like this because she's holding her voice back, rather than singing loudly. She's trying to keep her voice intimate and quiet, while retaining the richness of her tone.

Watching this again and I'm like "Hey! That's Tim!" and "Ooo! Will "Science" Hunt!" and then "Awe. She's nervous when she turns around to play the harp! D'awe!!!!"

I definitely get what you mean. In some performances of this song I've noticed she sings "stahhnd" instead of "st'a'nd and "bear'nd" instead of "beynd" which is a very typically English way of pronouncing these, but then I suppose it could be a slightly more classical style of singing she's merging in with her own accent? It does make it sound quite spooky, but still recognisably her style. It's like when Ev first broke and loads of people were convinced they were a British band, even though if you listen to a couple of Ev tracks, it doesn't take long to pick up her accent. I suppose it's just Amy mixing her influences in with her own unique vocal style. Tangent: I love it when she goes into her random posh English mode. "Ayum so glahhhd you orrl could ahttend!" She even addressed the Birmingham crowd at Ev's penultimate gig as "Birming'um" even though it would of course be more phonetically "Birming'ham'" in Alabama. It's also pretty cool when she makes the effort to learn and use a little bit of the local lingo in countries where English isn't their first language. Got a lot of respect for musicians who do that.
