Yes!
I've been talking about the pairing of Erase This and Lost in Paradise since the beginning, heh. They just go SO well together both musically and lyrically. Though, Erase This suffers from 'it could be about ANYTHING' syndrome, which normally is something I don't like in a song, but it has a few qualities that provide the setting and prove that the lyrics aren't just vague nonsense to please all the people out their searching for something to relate to. There was obviously a decision made that involved at least two people whose dream of whatever ET is about never came true. I actually kind of like the idea of it being about sex though, hehehe... It does have that sexy bass part.... But I have always gotten the 'creative struggles' vibe from the song.

Erase This is about having sex with someone you've just broken up with, and for a moment consider to get back together, but having reality kick you back in and realize you're just fooling yourself for thinking that. And regretting both, your mistakes. But your idea is better, plus Amy doesn't really write about sex, does she? I think she actualy does! Skip to 1:27.

I think she may have meant sex as in 'gender', not the physical act of... Love making. Hehehe... She's talking about how the band encompasses different influences and says "through time, genre, and sex" (three large scale ideas. To say 'time, genre, and fucking' would be inconsistent with the point she's trying to get across) followed with "I think labels in general can just go away".... Which leads me to believe she's talking about Evanescence not being defined by her gender, which is now true. One thing Ev3 certainly did was combine masculinity and femininity thoroughly.

The Erase This Guy, eh? Stop flattering me you romantic fool!
Oh! And I'm in the process of filming a fan-made (of course) music video for Erase This.... It is super exhausting and difficult to do since I am the only person involved... But I have some really good ideas, I think.

Ahh, Erase This. I've always liked this song, but I've really started to love it recently. When she sings "Is it so hard for you? 'Cause it's so hard for me." And " only have myself to blame for it all. All", the long notes make her sound so, I don't know, hopeless? I'm weird, I know. I just take it that way, and for some reason they long notes really hook me in for this song. For the whole band though, musically it seems so like, atmospheric, like a really big song.. I'm not quite sure how to explain... It reminds me of the ocean, like most of Ev3, and its just like... open. Haha, I really do love Erase This though.

Last song sung for Evanescence. Lyrics were changed a bunch. Had three titles. At 1:00.
So Sharkfin Backpack, Vanilla, and Erase This should be those three titles, unless Amy meant three working titles then it's legal title.

Am I the only who can see this in an anime? I feel like it would make a cool intro or ending song for an anime (a sci-fi/action anime). The song doesn't really sound J-Rock or J-Pop but the piano and the beat just sounds very "anime-ish"

(I've just read the trilogy and although I never liked the song I can't help it, Erase This totally fits there

I'm REALLY into this song again all the sudden. I was jamming to it at work today despite customers and one really dug it -SUCCESS!
I do wish, however, that there was a way to get the studio quality in the lower key used on tour...if nothing else than making it easier to sing for me.

Actually, there's a bunch of live versions that I wish they'd record in the studio, like the version of Imaginary they played on their last tour. I had this song stuck in my head today when I was walking home, but my iPod was flat, so I'm jamming to it right now.

I know what you mean about the long notes, especially in songs like these her long, high notes are so dramatic, heart-breaking. I love them. Was watching some of the later shows on YT and this performance of Erase This is SO intense and a really good performance, everyone was so into it, her voice was so powerful. Love when at the end Amy puts her arm around Jen as they're leaving. Cute! Did Jen slap Amy's butt just before that or it's just my perv eyes playing tricks???

Lol. It does look like Amy smacked Jen's butt, but I think she was just slapping her hand/arm. lol. XD

^^lol, now that I'm watching again it seems like they slapped each other's arms/hands, or at least tried to, I think Jen was trying to put her arm around her waist after that.

I like Erase This, it's expressing sadness of loss from so many lies, but not throwing a pity party, it's not "oh look at my sad life! pity me!" It's just expressing how they feel about betrayal, about lies. Yes, the label's betrayal. My take is: "It’s so hard for me to believe that what we dreamed could ever come to life again 'Cause I cannot erase this lie" = the band dreamed about making the album they wanted, i.e. the broken record/Lillywhite sessions, but they label came in and made them scrap the whole thing. She couldn't live the lie of making something to meet the label's demands and sacrifice her art, but she had to because she was under a contract. (I'm not saying that she hates Ev3, because she expressed how she loves it, but it's the album she wanted to make in the first place...) "I’m drowning in the mess that I have made" = Amy wanted to make a more experimental album - this is the mess she's referring to here - and the label didn't like it. "I only have myself to blame for it all" = Amy's the only one to blame here because she came in with the experimental album that was shelved and hated by the label. 90% of Ev3 is about Amy being mad at the label. lol. Just look at the lyrics and what happened in the creation of Ev3 (2010-2011).
