I like the first verse because it had that haunting quality that just makes the song. However the chorus on didn't really do much for me. Great voice though, I don't watch.

Bleh, she has that quality that a lot of recent singers have where their belted notes are completely flat and lifeless. It's essentially (at least to my ears) because they have such limited vocal ranges (which she DEFINITELY has if this performance is anything to judge by) that they're just shouting... That was a terrible performance, but I suspect this girl really isn't capable of anything better.

Mmm... Not good. It was like watching Katy Perry trying to do an Evanescence song. It just doesn't match.

Wow. She didn't necessarily sound bad but the performance was so lifeless and emotionless. The only note I was fairly impressed with was the final belt of "Bring mee tooo LIIIIFFFEEEEEE!" but other than that, meh. Forgettable.

I didn't think it was bad, it wasn't anything spectacular, but it wasn't bad
But you can't help but compare it when someone sings a song by your favorite artist so of course we are all going to not like it completely

Here's the studio version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf9C2rNr8xcI like the beginning, it has that haunting quality that the original version embodies but they made the rest of the song a bit "Poppy" which lessens the dynamics of the chorus' hard-hitting melody. So it was flat and lifeless on most parts. She certainly has vocal talents so she covered the technical aspects well (I guess, I don't know I'm not an expert ) however, the emotional delivery suffered after the first verse. She was hitting those high notes but she wasn't tugging any heartstrings. So Keith was right when he said that she needs to feel the song rather than just singing it for the sake of singing. Anyway, I like the ending too, it was a bit repetitive though (on the studio version).

Offical expert of all things BMTL here, and I can confirm it is not as good as the original. Meanwhile on itunes, the song has raised to number for on the rock chart only to be surpassed by.... wait for it... My Immortal at number one Though the opening sequence is pretty boss. "Featuring legendary music from Heart, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Janis Joplin, Queen, and EVANESCENCE!" Fuck yea, you better put Evanescence up with all those greats, that be mah girl Amy.

As a singer, I have to say a few things...
She should have gone for the original key. She sang it a major second lower than Amy does it. I feel that if she had actually challenged herself and gone for the original (and higher) key, that those belted notes would've sounded a lot better and more passionate. She's got a nice voice. I feel that the interpretation of the song was watered down, and the background music (as is the case in all these shows) is usually terrible. I don't know what the theme for this week was, but I didn't see a true rock performance here. There was a fan blowing on her hair.

I absolutely despise American Idol and shows like it, but my friend was flipping through the channels and got me to come in the room so I could see this.

I like cover songs, but when it comes to Evanescence I am SO critical and I can't help it. I long for the day someone covers Evanescence and I actually like it.

It may not have been great, though it wasn't terrible either especially for someone of her age. She didn't say 'bring me back to life' so it's better than anything the X Factor could muster.

Heh.... The studio version is actually better than the live performance (which is typical, really), but GOD those male vocals sound terrible, haha.... And the music? Even worse, heh. It's interesting, I hated her performance, but she is the only decent thing about the studio version.
