I love this song. I love listening to it when I need to just let go and cry my eyes out.

Despite common misconception, this is the one song that actually was written about Ben, or at least confirmed to be about him. I think it's really beautiful, she's not just screaming "you're an asshole for what you did!", she's just singing out her pain and letting go.

I love Mary's 'the Words' rendetion of this song; she really brought the true feelings and meaning behind this song into her words.

I always feel so utterly sad for Amy when I hear this song. She conveys the emotion so flawlessly, and it makes me cry. Definitely one of my favorite songs.<3

Been listening to this song a lot lately, after a looooong time without listening to it. I sort of go through phases with songs, so now i'm going through a TLSIWOY phase again.

I think it's really beautiful, she's not just screaming "you're an asshole for what you did!", she's just singing out her pain and letting go. That's what I've read, too. Is it completely reliable information, though? Could you be able to find any articles and actual citations of Amy Lee stating that? (Her giggling from the shared article on this thread kinda hints on Ben but it could as well be Shaun instead.) TLSIWOY is a hidden treasure. It's a bonus many don't seem to be paying enough attention to, yet I think it concludes TOD on a very strong note. The entire structure, which the song has been built upon, is so simplistic and beautiful at the same time! In my opinion, that's one of Ev's strongest sides - being able to create amazing music by the means of using vocals, lyrics, and the piano only. Lyrics are honest, sung in such an emotional and saddening way... It can clearly be heard that Amy's put all her heart into that song. TLSIWOY is definitely a personal one... Don't bother breaking the door down I found my way out And you'll never hurt me again Those lines say it all. They've managed to finish the whole TOD cycle and close the old door, leaving a new one open.

A: "If I answer that, then I'm not hiding anything anymore. But I just sort of answered it, didn't I?" I think TLSIWOY was written before any of the other TOD songs because Amy finished writing it during one of the rehearsal's of one of the Fallen shows. tinypic.com/view.php?pic=b4vmsh&s=6That's also the article where Amy giggled after mentioning the title. And she was still dating Shaun at the time the song was finished, so it is most likely NOT about Shaun.

Thanks for the proof and detailed explanations! It makes total sense that song is about Ben. However, don't you think it's kinda ironic it was the first piece written for TOD, yet it didn't even make it to the final cut? ;D (At least, not on the regular edition.) It is kinda self-explanatory as Wind-Up wouldn't have wanted any confrontations from Ben's side about it, yet CMWYS was not just recorded and released; it even got to be the first single off TOD, accompanied by a video. Judging by the same logic, Shaun could've also publically made a big deal about it. So, I'm confused...

He said some stuff, or so I was told. Plus he's written songs about her and stuff on Seether albums. I also think Amy is the reason why Seether covered Careless Whisper.

It's kind of a shame they both had to go through all that... However, I'm still confused as to why Ben has remained so silent about things with the only exception being that old post on the former EvThreads. I might be going slightly off-topic here, but was it really him?
