Sounds pretty reasonable to me, actually. If Ev is doing a musical performance... Each member of the band gets their check (which is probably bigger than it needs to be, but it's not like every single one is getting 250,000$... Plus, I wonder how steady their income is without those big checks), their tech crew each has to get a paycheck (I imagine Ev has a rather large crew, to be honest... They don't seem like the type to get their hands dirty), their label is probably going to want a cut, etc... Then you have to cover the travel costs for the entire band/crew, where are they going to stay while they're in town... Though it bothers me when that woman says they had only one hit... They had three hits with Fallen, two lesser hits with TOD, and one rather small but successful enough song with Ev3... If anything their career has been steady for a band from the early 2000's with such a small output... But we've come to expect that sort of silliness from non-fans, hehehe.

Evanescence puts out their first record in over half a decade and it hits number one while these people have a Youtube show...
Yeah, I don't think I need to value their opinion.
Evanescence is an act that has had commercial success, won Grammys and other various awards, and has had the ability to sell out arenas worldwide. Amy has been honored and awarded for her songwriting abilities. I'm guessing that around the time of Fallen, this price would be a lot lower, but they have paid their dues and earned their appearance price (which I'm guessing is the price to appear AND play). It's kind of in the job of being a musician to become popular so that you can charge more because you know you can sell more. When it comes down to it, the entertainment industry is nothing more than a money and numbers game and you need to play, and win, that game in order to survive.
This band is capable of being able to come back time after time and still show that they can sell music and shows and pull in quite a bit more money for their label than a lot of other acts out there. So yeah, I don't think their asking price for an appearance is really all that high, especially since that money does get divided quite a few ways (the band itself, expenses, crew, label, etc...)

I didn't even know about the existance of that YT show, and you can really tell they have no idea about what they are talking about. They seem ignorant people, not only is when they referred to Evanescence, but also to the other people/groups they mentioned.
I don't care about how much money they ask for a gig as long as the price you pay for a ticket is reasonable.
I must say concerts in my country are MOST of the time way too expensive, a Madonna show can cost you 500/600 USD, and c'mon, she doesn't even sing! The same with the Lady Gaga and Britney Spears show. U2 and Roger Waters were also way too expensive and Paul McCartney's (in 2011 I think) was the most expensive of the Chilean concert history.... over 1000USD :S
On the contrary, the first concert of Evanescence (back in 2007) was only 30USD!! The concert this year had different prices but the most expensive didn't cost you more than 85USD and that's what it matters to me. How much can we fans pay for a show and Evanescence understands that. We are not wealthy people who can easily spend 1000USD for a 90 minute show.
Besides, they need a hotel where to stay, they need air tickets to travel from country to country and you can't put 5 or more people on economy class, they need their room!
Anyway, I hate this type of shows that gets into people's incomes and all that. Leave them alone, they have the talent to ask 250.000$ for a show!

These People have NO idea how much it costs to put on a A ROCK SHOW!...
How many people are involved behind the scenes that need to be payed.
The gear they use IS NOT Cheap....
not to mention how physical it is... i doubt the band gets payed an unreasonable amount of money... when you take into account all the other things that that fee covers

Shows are different from appearances. Concerts are usually paid in tour advances by the label. Then they sell tickets, give a portion to the venue, pay the label back the advance and keep the rest. Well, it's slightly more complicated but this is the simple picture. Appearances are like in tv shows, and possibly tribute shows (for instance, the Johnny Cash tribute). I don't think they need their whole crew to set up because they use the show set-up (stage/lights/backdrop). Just their instrument tech and soundmen. They do have to get airfare, hotels, etc. Anyway, it's still expensive to put on a show. I said it was steep because I had no idea that's what Ev cost to show up in an event.
Bob Dylan asks for the same amount as Ev. I think he could demand more than 250-300K, though.
Excuse me, Miley Cyrus and JayZ ask for as much money as Elton John? Lolololololol.

Even if there no other expenses that would still only be 50K-70K for each of the 5 members.

^^whoever is booking is going to make a profit with ticket sales.. too... so i would assume part of that money is a cut in ticket sales and a Royalty for playing their own music work live.

This is going to go off topic but just to quote your comment on youtube ^^^
and my reply
i had thought... ok i know it would be impossible to do this because the fact is ev fans are all over the world and we couldn't possibly assemble everyone in one place and time to see the band... BUT then it got me thinking what if?
we should do it as a hypothetical..... raise a hypothetical 250K.. see how much fans are willing to donate if it WAS possible if you guys are interested ill make a thread and explain further...
on topic. i love all the comments being left by all u guys the sheer amount of Ev love has washed out all the stinky trolls.. Thanks guys

LOL at some of these comments. The things people say about Evanescence. The comments under Sweet Sacrifice were even worse. Something about Amy and a curse...? Haha. Can people be any more stupid?
