Lyrics:
0:00 - 0:23
I've spent so much time
Throwing rocks at your window
That I never even knocked
On your front door
Ahhhahhh
Ahhhahhh
Ahh
I walk by statues
Never even made one chip, Ooo
But if I could leave a mark
On the monument of your heart
I just might lay myself down, Oooo
For a little more than what I had
The last day
The last day
The last day
1:57 - 2:40
Wait a time
We'll spare these lies we tell ourselves
These days have come and gone
But this time is sweeter than honey
3:10 - 4:29
Song:
Some Things To Think About/Debate Over
-Will Boyd lends his vocals to the live version of this song (played on the Ev EP Release Party), which makes sense as he is the co-writer of this song.
-People who don't know any better call this song "The Last Day."
-According to EvReference: This song was a joint effort written by Will Boyd, Matt Outlaw and Ben Moody - Matt once again performing drums for this song.
SOURCE-Once upon a time, ev.it had a song list, and under that it said this about So Close:
(seldom referred to as The Last Day) - It was not an Evanescence song. It was a song Will and Ben and Matt Outlaw wrote in another band. Evanescence covered it. Will is actually a great songwriter and has written in several other bands like The Visitors and Lucky Father Brown. Track #5 on the Evanescence EP. Matt Outlaw performed on the drums for this song.
Later EvLore claims that the band itself was called So Close and that song (So Close) was going to be it's main song/theme song or whatever. In any case, it would explain why Amy does NOT have writing credits for it. One has to imagine what the original So Close sounded like (who did vocals? Can one imagine So Close with male vocals?)
On the Evanescence EP - track 5 - released 1998. Lyrics ©1998 Ben Moody / William Boyd / Matt Outlaw.
'So Close' was the name of their band prior to the creation of Evanescence.
-So Close is one of the eight songs NOT listed on the BMI Website under Evanescence.
